The class 3A state tournament in 2019 was loaded with teams that featured multiple non-senior stars. Some of these squads should open the 2020 campaign among the early season favorites to battle for the state title. As a handful of returning prospects from the state tournament a year ago have committed to college programs, including Eagan’s Kennedi OrrKennediOrr6'0" | SEagan | 2021StateMN and Abigail MoeAbigailMoe6'2" | MHEagan | 2021StateMN, Lakeville North’s Madelyn HornyakMadelynHornyak5'11" | OHLakeville North | 2021StateMN and Ella ThompsonEllaThompson6'1" | MHLakeville North | 2021StateMN, as well as Minnetonka’s Kali EngemanKaliEngeman6'1" | MHMinnetonka | 2021StateMN, there remain several athletes that are worth continued evaluation as they continue through the recruiting process. Long and athletic, Alexander is a multi-sport athlete that has the ability to provide a big impact on the volleyball court. She can score around the setter off one or two feet while providing good reach and pressure as a blocker. This team’s middle combo has good upside and could be an x-factor in supporting their pin offense and guiding them to another deep run in 2020.
