While the game of volleyball is one that quite often allows the offensive players to look their best, there’s a deeper story-line to those aesthetics.

If the success of every spike was a foregone conclusion the stakes just wouldn’t be the same. It’s only because of all the Defensive Specialists that are willing to stand in and answer that call that the give-and-take of this symbiotic relationship means as much as it does.

Here in Michigan for the 2020 season in 15U, 16U and 17U action Defensive Specialists are definitely at a premium. As for the individual athletes that could end up standing out in the months to come at that position, this includes…



Wearing number eight for Haifive Volleyball 16U in Chelsea Lennon plays the Outside Hitter (OH), Middle (M) and Right Side (RS) positions and stands in at five-foot-five.



A member of the class of 2022 at Brighton High School (HS), Gill currently plays Libero/Defensive Specialist for Dynamite Volleyball Club (VBC) 17U Select. She also wears jersey number nine.



At five-foot-six this Defensive Specialist is right-handed, plays for Attack VBC 15U National-Black and is a part of the class
