Here are three 2nd Region volleyball teams on the rise.
Hopkinsville: Showing improvement in the 2019 high school volleyball season, Hopkinsville compiled a 12-17 record. The Tigers finished fifth in the 2019 2nd Region RPI Rankings after ending the 2018 season 9-25. Productive seniors Lupita Vieyra (OH), Lauren Watkins (DS) and Alyssa Bearns (OH) are returning for the Tigers. Hopkinsville finished as the 8th District runner-up and made an appearance in the 2nd Region Volleyball Tournament during the 2019 season.
Livingston Central: Adding to its win total from one year earlier, Livingston Central ended the 2019 high school volleyball season 7-21. The Cardinals were 5-18 in 2018. Experienced seniors Raegan Wooten (127 assists, 46 service aces), Beth Hawk, Olivia Ramage and Lexi Waters are headed back to the court for former 2nd Region frontrunner Livingston Central. Wooten led the Cardinals in assists during the 2019 season. Livingston Central shut out rival Trigg County 3-0 in the opening round of the 2019 5th District Volleyball Tournament.
Webster County: After ending the 2018 high school volleyball season 15-16, Webster County moved above .500 in its most recent campaign. Webster County ended the 2019 high school volleyball season 17-16 following a 6th District runner-up finish and a 2nd Region Volleyball Tournament appearance. A talented group is poised to return for Webster County. The returning players for Webster County include juniors Maggie Jones (257 kills, 39 blocks, 96 digs, 42 service aces), Kylie Hardison (125 assists, 48 digs, 32 service aces), Audrie Ellis (289 digs, 70 service aces) and Mary Kate Rakestraw (72 kills, 32 blocks), along with senior Karis Sallee (154 assists, 47 digs).
