Showalter and Vetter had a good performance in U16 age-group as they won six of their eight matches in the event, finishing 17th at the gold division after being knocked out by division winners Maggie Boyd and Gabriele Walker.
In the U18 category, they had an even better campaign with seven victories in eight matches but were stopped at the same stage after they lost to Payton and Madison Brunick. The Washingtonians finished 17th.
Showalter, who already verbally committed to play beach volleyball at the collegiate level for USC, had an impressive sophomore campaign with the Wildcats in 2019, leading the team in kills (363), aces (89) and digs (432). She earned an honorable mention for the All-State Team of the Class 4A. She also competed at the professional AVP beach event in Seattle last year, but didn’t advance from the qualifier.
Vetter, who played in the same event in 2019 with her older sister Avi, has enjoyed similar success with the Bears as she was the team’s top-scorer (104 kills) and server (17 aces) in her sophomore year.
