The 6′ junior setter will be continuing her education and volleyball career at the University of Central Florida Knights!
Schomers comments, “In the beginning, I was looking at about a dozen D1 schools! I had multiple D1 offers, but UCF definitely felt like a home away from home. I really connected with the coaching staff right from the start. I was open to going anywhere, but I wanted to make sure I found the right fit! We talked every week learning new facts about their program, campus, academics, and team! I went on a zoom with the freshmen and instantly felt welcomed and their excitement!”
Abby plans to study Occupational Therapy. She plays club at Nebraska Elite.
Under Coach Todd Dagenias since 2008, UCF went 25-8 in 2019. Their 2020 season is postponed to the spring of 2021. UCF won in the first round of the NCAA Championship Tournament against Florida State, 3-2, before falling in the second round to #10 Florida, 3-0. UCF belongs to the American Athletic Conference that includes Cincinnati, East Carolina, Houston, Memphis, SMU, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa, USF. and Witchita State.
CONGRATULATIONS ABBY!
