While most of the top performers of a high school volleyball season are deservedly awarded a spot in the All-State team, a few others fly under-the-radar and put up big numbers in a more quiet way. That was the case with these five players, so keep an eye on them when the 2020 season starts for the Class 2A in Washington.
Lindsay Addink – Setter – Junior – Ephrata
Lindsay Addink has a solid sophomore campaign for Ephrata in 2019. The setter coordinated the Tigers’ offense pretty well with 380 assists, but also played other important roles for the team, especially in blocking, where she ranked second with 64, and serving, an area in which she was the third-best with 22 aces. As a tall setter at 5’10”, Addink still has a lot of room for improvement and part of it could come next season.
Rylie Reeves Rylie Reeves 5'11" | OH Columbia River | 2022 WA – Outside Hitter/Opposite – Junior – Columbia River
Rylie Reeves Rylie Reeves 5'11" | OH Columbia River | 2022 WA ’ great all-around game was at full display during last year’s Columbia River’s State Championship appearance. The 5’11” sophomore showed plenty of potential and the ability to be effective for the Chieftains in both sides of the court as she led the team in kills with 229 but also had a significant contribution on defense, registering 235 digs, the second-best mark in the entire roster. For good reason, she’s part of prepdig.com’s watch list of the class of 2022.
Marina Lieato – Setter/Right Sider – Junior – Foster
Few players contributed to their teams in more diverse ways than Marina Lieato helped Foster last year. The 5’7” prospect played as a hybrid of setter and right sider for the Bulldogs and led the team in assists (200) and aces (57) and was second in kills (99). More impressive was the fact that she registered a 55.3% kill percentage, meaning she scored in more than half of her attacking attempts.
Ellie Lombard Ellie Lombard 6'2" | MB Mountlake Terrace | 2022 WA – Middle-Blocker/Right Sider – Junior – Mountlake Terrace
Another versatile player, Ellie Lombard Ellie Lombard 6'2" | MB Mountlake Terrace | 2022 WA made noise with her blocking game in 2019 for Moutlake Terrace. The 6’2” middle-blocker stopped the Hawks opponents unbelievable 142 times at the net over the season, at the impressive rate of 2.2 stuffs per set. Her blocking game has already earned her a spot at prepdig.com’s class of 2022 watch list, but if she manages to get more involved on offense, where she added only 57 kills, she could have a breakout season in 2020.
Liz Hurn – Defensive Specialist – Sophomore – Woodland
Liz Hurn showed a lot of promise with her backcourt efforts for Woodland in 2019. The 5’3” defender left a good impression even if the Beavers missed the State Championship because of her defensive solidness as she led the team in both digs (268) and passes (415) during her freshman year. With more confidence and experience, she should be able to do even more next season.
