Junior Attackers Dominate at PrepDig/Baden PNW Invitational Camp
Over the weekend I had the privilege of covering the PrepDig/Baden Pacific Northwest Invitational Training Camp. The camp was structured to bring the best athletes in Oregon and Southwest Washington into one facility and let them compete. With COVID-19 the opportunities for athletes to compete have been severely limited, so this was a great chance to get the best of the best in one place. While some players were not able to attend, the Courts were filled with forty-seven incredible volleyball players. Be on the lookout for content coming highlighting players in attendance.
Below are the junior attackers who represented their class and position well at the camp.
Emily Warmenhoven Emily Warmenhoven 5'10" | OH West Linn | 2022 State OR , 5’10”, OH, West Linn High School, Oregon Juniors Volleyball Academy
What makes Warmenhoven such a special player how quick she is both offensively and defensively. When attacking, her arm swing is insanely fast and she utilizes this power as a dominant hitter in both the front and back row. On defense, she is quick to react to the ball but steady making her a standout six rotation player.
Check out her insane line shot!
Being the only freshman to make the West Linn Lions Varsity squad in 2018, Warmenhoven came back her sophomore season with a vengeance. She helped the Lions finish fifth in 6A State tournament this past season. She was awarded Three Rivers Second Team All-League for her play.
Last club she played for Oregon Juniors Volleyball Academy on their 16-1 National team.
Kaitlynn Peterson Kaitlynn Peterson 5'11" | OH Tigard | 2022 OR , 5’11”, OH/RS, Tigard High School, Athena Volleyball Academy
What makes Peterson such a special player is the many angles and shots in her toolbox. With her long and athletic stature, she can dominate on both the right and outside with ease.
Check out her explosive outside attack!
Peterson had a breakout season for the Tigard High School Tigers, as their dominant, six rotation, outside hitter. She was awarded Three Rivers Second Team All-League for her play.
Last club season she played for Athena Volleyball Academy 16-1 Gold.
Sadly, she will be leaving the Pacific Northwest and heading to Minnesota where she is sure to make waves. Best of luck, Kaitlynn!
Jaydan Sahlin, 6’0”, MB/RS, North Marion High School, NW Power
What makes Sahlin such a special player is the versatility she brings to the front row. Though left-handed and a natural on the right side, she also dominates in the middle. She can even hit with her right hand when needed. She has a great rhythm to her approach.
Check out her seamless right-side attack in transition!
Sahlin has been a Varsity starter since freshman year for the North Marion High School Huskies. For her play, she was awarded Tri-Valley Second Team All-League. During the off-season she dominated on the basketball court for the Huskies, receiving Tri-Valley Second Team All-League.
Last club season she played up to the NW Power 18 National team.
