This will also conclude the previews of the conference from the coaches who responded This series features a recent powerhouse in Superior who is looking to fill big shoes with the loss of Husker recruit Kaylynn Meyer and a much improved Sutton team who returns a lot of experience and up and coming youth. This conference ranges in classification from from C-1 to D-1. The teams included in this conference are Centennial, Fairbury, David City, Milford, Wilber-Clatonia, Heartland, Sutton, Superior, Thayer Central, Fillmore Central, and Sandy Creek. Here is a preview and snapshot of two teams in the SNC.
Superior: Coach Blevins has four returning starters to build around this fall. Shayla Meyer Shayla Meyer 6'1" | OH Superior | 2022 State #185 Nation NE is a junior outside that was a 1st team SNC pick. Meyer hammered away 462 kills with a .374 hitting percentage. She also chipped in 49 ace serves and had 329 digs. Cailyn Barry is a junior MB who plays front row only for the Wildcats. She had 31 kills last year as a sophomore. Sierra Blackburn is a senior setter who had 491 set assists last fall and had 37 ace serves. Alexa Cox Alexa Cox Superior | NE is a RS/MB who also returns with varsity experience. Some promising newcomers for Coach Blevins and the Wildcats is sophomore setter Ella Gardner. The Wildcats strengths this season, according to Blevins is they have a powerful and dynamic outside in Shayla Meyer Shayla Meyer 6'1" | OH Superior | 2022 State #185 Nation NE . They also have an experienced senior setter in Sierra Blackburn. She also says they have height across all positions. She foresees her weaknesses at this point in finding a new libero and having 3 new people on the RS, MB and OH. This summer the Wildcats attended the Seward Team Camp and hosted a 3 day home day camp.
Sutton: The Fillies have a lot of experience and returning letter winners this coming fall and are looking to improve on their 14-18 record. Uncommitted 6’0”Middle blocker Kylie Baumert led All-Tribland in blocks per game every week in 2019, was an All-Conference 2nd team pick and Tribune/LJS/OWH Honorable Mention picks last year. Baumert had 21 ace serves, and 233 kills last year. Uncommitted Kate Griess Kate Griess Sutton | NE , a 5’7” junior setter, was a SNC All-Conference 3rd team pick. She had several double-doubles and one triple-double this past fall for the Fillies. Griess had 35 ace serves, 172 kills and 293 set assists. Libero Dayvie Perrien a 5’5” senior who was an All-Conference Honorable Mention pick. She had 26 ace serves and 464 digs. Coach Mohnike has some promising freshman and sophomores in 5’10” RS Alivia Huxoll, sophomore DS Maddie Baxa, and 5’8” OH Lily McCroden and freshman DS Reagan Robinson. Sutton’s strengths this year will be they are returning 6 starters and have 8 returning letter winners. They will be able to have a lot of offense out of Baumert and will also have more offensive threats across the net this year . Mohnike feels her defense will be strong as well. This summer Sutton attended the York Team Camp and also scrimmaged with Beatrice.
