Through trials and injuries, Mackenzie Mahr has persevered to bounce back stronger than ever after each setback. As a power outside hitter in the class of 2022, she has shown herself to be an incredibly determined athlete as she has endured back-to-back season-ending injuries during her sophomore year, not to mention the global pandemic which ended the 2020 club season early. Despite these challenges, Mackenzie has proven to be an incredibly talented pin hitter and passer.
MacKenzie is one of the most consistent and strategic players in the class of 2022. Whether on defense or offense, she has great court awareness and adept reading skills as a six-rotation player. She is skilled at hitting shots in out-of-system plays and defends with the best, getting in the split of the block on defense, constantly keeping her team in rallies. If consistency and resilience are the keys to a player your college team needs, MacKenzie is your girl.
As a freshman, MacKenzie made her varsity team at O’Connor High School who went on to the Final 4 in the 6A division. Despite her arm and knee injuries, she continued to persevere and work her way back into the game that she loves, getting stronger and better each day. In 2018 her club team, Alamo 14Pp, finished 17th in the nation with MacKenzie leading her team on the pins and back row. MacKenzie has been a vital part of her club and school teams with her passion and leadership on and off the court.
MacKenzie is looking forward to her college career and being able to showcase her strategic abilities at outside hitter and defensive specialist. Although she stands at 5’8”, she plays heads and tails above her peers and will continue to be a stand out in her class despite the personal setbacks throughout her high school career. MacKenzie provides an ultra-competitive spark and will shine through her college career for the program that snags her.
