Following a 63rd District runner-up finish and an appearance in the 16th Region Volleyball Tournament, Greenup County ended the 2019 season 13-22.
Here are three Greenup County sophomores to watch in the 2020 high school volleyball season.
Karli Fannin: A sophomore outside hitter, Fannin appeared in 15 matches for 2019 16th Region Volleyball Tournament participant Greenup County. Poised to take on a larger role for Greenup County during the 2020 high school volleyball season, Fannin is a strong hitter from the left side who has shown the potential to produce in both the front row and back row.
Abbie Johnson: A sophomore defensive specialist, Johnson was a reliable player for 63rd District runner-up Greenup County during the 2019 high school volleyball season. Johnson appeared in 17 matches for the Musketeers during the 2019 season, posting 48 digs in 34 sets. With the ability to become a defensive standout and help to lead her team, Johnson delivers from the back row regularly.
Emily Maynard: A sophomore right side hitter, Maynard was a key contributor for Greenup County in 2019. Maynard took the floor for 30 of Greenup County’s 35 matches during her freshman season, recording 30 assists, 19 kills and 6 blocks in 51 sets. Prepared to take on a larger role for Greenup County as a sophomore in the 2020 season, Maynard is a strong hitter from the right side and an underrated blocker.
