Ava Gdovka- Returning for her senior year, Ava Gdovka was a leader on the court for her West Jessamine squad. She racked up 540 digs with a 4.50 dig average which is extremely impressive for any defensive specialist. Gdovka took over the court with her fast reading skills and insane passing ability. She helped the team clench a district and region championship and also earned all-region honors. Ava has a bright future ahead of her and will continue to show her defensive skills in 2020!
Emily Krintz- Also from West Jessamine, Emily Krintz showed tons of defensive talent as just a sophomore in 2019. Playing all the way around in the outside position, Krintz still managed to have 398 digs and a 3.21 dig average! She also had the top service aces for her team with 73. Emily is talented from every angle, but it’s especially notable that she tallied almost 400 digs with just playing 3 rotations defensively! This girl will be a huge key for the Colts in the next two seasons.
Kami Wilson- A future senior for Southwestern, Kami Wilson excelled in the libero position with a total of 309 digs and a 2.81 dig average. Kami is an interesting story because she played along with her sister, Sydney Wilson, who was a senior for the Warriors. Sydney decided not to play volleyball in college, but Kami has a lot of potential to show towards the college coaches as she’s uncommitted! The sisters helped lead their team defensively towards a district championship and came short with a crazy 2-3 set loss (14-16 5th set) to West Jessamine in the region semifinals. Kami will definitely return her final year to make waves for the team!
Lyndsey Parmelee- Pulaski County has many talented players, but Parmelee ran the backrow as a junior in 2019 with 339 digs and a 3.61 dig average. Parmelee was a setter, DS, or hitter for the team, so it’s for sure impressive that she totaled so many digs for having to play a variety of positions! What sets Parmelee apart is her athletic ability to just not the ball hit the floor which is why she was a key defensively for the Lady Maroons. It will be interesting to see where she plays in 2020, but she will definitely be a huge impact for the team’s success.
Sarah Barron- Only a freshman for Rockcastle County, Sarah Barron was a beast in the back row. She earned the libero position where she played middle back because of her swift movements and quick reaction time. Barron had 370 digs and a 3.30 dig average in 2019 for just her freshman year, so big things are coming for this class of 2023 recruit! Sarah helped lead her team to a winning season and a district runner-up title with her best game being their last against West Jessamine in the region tournament where she had 14 digs in the match to end the year! Sarah Barron is very fun to watch and will be a great asset to Rockcastle County in the future!
