Though they are at smaller schools, their play over the years shows they are capable of playing volleyball at the collegiate level at different positions. Top 40 List.
Class 1 and 2 Ballers
There are some major volleyball players across the state many aren’t as aware of because of geographic loations. For example, how many of you have heard of Mallory Polk Mallory Polk 5'10" | MB Lesterville | 2021 State MO (31)? The 5’8″ MH/OH is from Lesterville High down highway 21. The school has around 100 students from grades 7th-12th grade. Entering into her senior season, Polk sits at 960 kills during her career. Also within reach of the milestone is Ryenne Gepford Ryenne Gepford 5'9" | OH Butler | 2021 State MO , who sits at 32 on the list. Gepford plays at Butler High School in Class 2. The outside hitter also has tremendous offensive ability and has 725 kills after three seasons. She has shown she is solid defensively also. In the southeast corner of the state, we’ll find Nyah Wilson Nyah Wilson 5'10" | RS Advance | 2021 State MO of Advance High School in Advance, MO. They have around 200 students from grades 7-12. Wilson has been steady over her career as a right side hitter. She has good size and swings well.
Committed Athletes
There are a couple of committed athletes in this portion of our rankings. 6’0″ Middle Taylor Gentemann Taylor Gentemann 6'0" | MB Winfield | 2021 State MO (Windfield/Rockwood Thunder) is set to play at NCAA Division II Lindenwood for the fall of 2021. Her game has improved over the last couple of years and has made herself a threat in the middle offensively and defensively. Heading to Missouri Baptist will be 6’4″ RS Audrey Keevan Audrey Keevan 6'4" | RS Timberland | 2021 State MO (Timberland/Rockwood Thunder). She is another player that coaches have agreed to have improved greatly over her high school career. Her height is an advantage to her ability to get blocks and touches at the net.
Combo/Switch-Up Players
There are some players in this grouping of rankings who have shown the ability to play numerous positions or may be viewed in a different role at the next level. Lexie Smither Lexie Smither 5'9" | OH West Platte | 2021 State MO (West Platte/Storm) has shown her ability to score points as a hitter on the high school scene but may be best suited as a DS/L at the next level. She spends most of her time in the defense role on the club level and will be an asset to a team probably at the DII or NAIA level. The same can be said for Cali Bokenkroger Cali Bokenkroger 5'8" | S St. Michael the Archangel | 2021 State MO , the 5’8″ setter from St. Michael’s in Kansas City. On the club scene, she plays with Mavs 816 and has the ability to pass if necessary at the next level. She could potentially be seen as a setter or defender at a small competitive school. Just outside of Kansas City in Pleasant HIll, Hannah Joyce Hannah Joyce 5'8" | S Pleasant Hill | 2021 State MO has had a decorated career as a setter. Also standing at 5’8″, she has been able to play defense from the back row which could boost her collegiate options. She is a winner with her team advancing in previous years deep into the playoffs and championship runs.
Any Day Now
These two athletes were the ones many coaches were surprised haven’t made the call on their commitments to date. Lily Letchworth Lily Letchworth 5'10" | S Blue Springs | 2021 State MO (Blue Springs/PVA) has been one of the top setters in Kansas City over the last couple of seasons. She is within reach of 2000 career assists. She is very smart at the net with ball placements and dumps. She also provides a steady defense when necessary. Anna Deutschmann Anna Deutschmann 5'6" | DS/L Francis Howell | 2021 State MO has been a feisty defender over the years. She makes the difficult plays look easy with her court awareness. Both athletes could be valuable signees for competitive division two programs.
