The next high school volleyball season won’t start in Washington until March 2021, but there’s absolutely no reason why we should wait until there to know more about the best teams in each class. In this series, we’ll dissect each of the state’s six divisions by analyzing the top teams and the most promising players and what we can expect from them when the balls are finally allowed to fly. In our opening week, we’ll bring some info on the Class 1A.



Freeman has been as competitive as it gets in the division, having missed the quarterfinals of the State Championship for the last time back in 2013. Last season, the Scotties had to settle for fourth after falling in the semifinals to eventual champions Chelan, from which they stole a set. Expect to see a considerably different roster next season as seven seniors have graduated, but the talent level will remain high as two of the team’s three All-State team selections will be back.

Ashley Boswell – Middle-Blocker/Outside Hitter – Junior
