The next high school volleyball season won’t start in Washington until March 2021, but there’s absolutely no reason why we should wait until there to know more about the best teams in each class. In this series, we’ll dissect each of the state’s six divisions by analyzing the top teams and the most promising players and what we can expect from them when the balls are finally allowed to fly. In the second week, Class 1B will be in the spotlights.



Pomeroy returned to the top of the division last year by winning the State Championship for the first time since 2014. A victory like that could mark the start of a period of domination for the Lady Pirates, but that won’t likely be the case as half of Pomeroy’s 2019 roster – including all of its five All-State team selections – won’t be back after graduating. It will be a rebuilding year for the Pirates, but they have enough talent to believe it won't be as bad as it might look like.
