You are about to meet three more young ladies who are blessed with height. Since Texas has its fair share of players over 6 feet tall, I figured I would spread this article around the state a little. Without further ado, here are the players in volume 7.
Haylee Maxey Haylee Maxey 6'1" | OH Keller | 2021 State TX [2021] 6-1 Outside (HS: Keller/Club: Excel/ Verbal: Tarleton State)
Haylee is the 82nd ranked prospect in the 2021 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She is a very polished six rotation outside hitter from the north Texas area. She has earned all district honors at Keller. Haylee shows her skills off as she knows exactly where she is going to attack the defense. She knows how to exploit an offense and lead the blockers cross with a few attacks and then set them up for a point scoring line shot and vice versa. She has so much power that she regularly scores off of deflections from the blockers hands. She scores so easily when the ball is off of the net also which can be difficult for a lot of hitters to do because it requires a different hand contact on the ball, but she adjusts so well to it when necessary. Her balanced footwork and super strong upper body meshes very well when it comes to her service reception. It all comes together and showcases a consistent well delivered pass to her setter. She will do very well at the next level for Tarleton State University.
Brooke Braham Brooke Braham 6'0" | OH Clear Lake | 2021 State TX [2021] 6-0 Outside/Right Side (HS: Clear Lake/Club: Houston Stellar/Verbal: Biola University)
Miss Braham comes in as the 86th ranked prospect in the 2021 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She has been a six rotation starter for her high school program since she burst onto the scene for them. She has some serious hops and a lightning quick arm swing. She is a very athletic point scoring pin hitter who is difficult to time because of her jumping ability. She is able to hit on both sides of the court on the pins extremely well. Brooke is a phenomenal passer in every position on the court and that’s why her team has her in every single rotation. She passes in system consistently and that is a scary option for her college program to have. She will likely start for them right away when she steps on campus at Biola University next year. The aspect that I love about her game is how relentless she plays defense. Some hitters aren’t all around players who love to get down on the floor when necessary. Brooke on the other hand is one whose defensive play is infectious as she is very active and rarely lets a ball hit the floor near her zone. Keep an eye out for her as she is looking to leave a mark during her senior season at Clear Lake.
Keriangelys Otero-Rijos Keriangelys Otero-Rijos 6'0" | OH Porter | 2022 State TX [2022] 6-0 Right Side (HS: Porter/Club: TAV Houston/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Keriangelys comes in as the 92nd ranked prospect in the 2022 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She is a strong lefty who primarily plays on the right side pin. Her footwork is solid and quick as she has the ability to adjust on the fly and still get off of the ground well to attack hard on emergency plays. She has a solid frame that allows her to send tons of raw power behind her attack. She has no problem turning on the ball on the right side and going straight down the line to score. She is fun to watch because she stays very active on the defensive end both at the net and as the off-side blocker who has to dig the sharp cross attack. She never takes a play off and her TAV Houston squad is the beneficiary of it. We are looking to watch her grow over the next few years on the court.
Be on the lookout for the rest of this series as we tap into more players who are blessed to be tall and play with such great skills. Stay tuned for more players in our next article.
