Lots of schools neighboring the Pennsylvania border are showing off some seriously talented athletes this year. Check out this list of some of the best and brightest D1 prospects that Cherry Hill Volleyball Club has to offer.
Ogonna Ngene, 6’1 MB, Paul VI High School, Class of 2023
Middles are always told first and foremost: protect the net. You don’t have to tell Ngene twice. This sophomore brings a calm presence to the court. She plays cool and makes it look easy, but that’s because she’s tracking the movement of the ball like a hawk. When the time comes, she makes a quick adjustment to the ball and can smack down an overpass or a tight set effortlessly. She’s also a trusty offensive option, trailing within a few feet of her setter, and snapping the ball strategically to the corners and open spaces. It’s no doubt Ngene will continue to impress as she progresses through her high school career.
Zharia Harris-Waddy Zharia Harris-Waddy 6'0" | MB Paul VI | 2023 State NJ , 6’1 MB, Paul VI High School Class of 2023
Partner in crime to Ngene in both high school and club, Zharia Harris-Waddy Zharia Harris-Waddy 6'0" | MB Paul VI | 2023 State NJ makes a big splash on any court. She’s a more dynamic front row player, running a fast set from anywhere her setter leads her. While she makes an incredible impact at the net blocking – easily roofing multiple pin hitters at the second GEVA Power League Series last season – she’s also a hungry hitter. Harris-Waddy is an energetic beacon on the court and a go-to offensive choice for her squad.
Mia Moscicki, 6’0 OH, Shawnee High School, Class of 2022
Having this kind of height doesn’t necessarily mean you’re destined to be a middle. Moscicki is a 6’ athlete that can rock the ball from both pins. She’s a powerful hitter who works just as hard as she plays. She’s worked to increase her vertical this summer and is now playing in the 9’9’ range. Moscicki is certainly not afraid of the block, often blasting right through it if not around it with a clean cut or line shot. With her tenacity, coachability, and high academic standing, she’s a fierce addition to any squad.
Madison Floyd, 6’1 MB, Rancocas Valley High School, Class of 2021
Floyd has easily one of the biggest blocks I’ve seen this past club season. She was consistently dishing out swings that put liberos on their faces but also mixed it up with soft and sneaky tips to the 2 and the 4 spots. She clearly has a strong pulse on the game; she knows exactly where everyone is and where to place the ball next. Touching 10’1”, this girl is a serious D1 prospect. She’s looking at a few notable schools along the east coast, but she’s still uncommitted at the time of writing this article. I’d suspect a gem like this won’t be on the market for too much longer.
Jaaliyah Evans, 6’0 OH/RS,
Jaaliyah Evans commands the flow of the game right from the ref’s first whistle. Just at the Monument City Classic alone last year, I saw her crushing high outside balls, fast huts, and even the occasional 32. Her presence as either an outside or rightside in the triple block is unparalleled. If the other team is able to play her ball up, you can bet she’ll be right there ready to throw that overpass back in their faces. It’s clear that Evans is not someone to mess with at the net, but what about her back row game? The answer is that she’s just as graceful anywhere she is on the court. For her club team, she plays defense in the 5 spot, and it’s certainly no accident to have her there. She cuts the ball off well and knows her angles on a hard dig. This girl has really got the stuff!
