Continue ReadingWe bring our attention back to the Rising Sophomore class of 2023. We will continue to help get exposure to those that deserve it through their efforts to improve on the court. We have been very active in communicating with College Recruiting Directors all over the state so that we can bring the best to the eyes of the college coaches we have in our database that read our articles. I have spoken to many of them and they are extremely excited about this 2023 class. It is never too early to get exposure. So without further ado, here are a few of the standouts from the 2023 class that I have not written about yet.
Brooklyn Jaeger Brooklyn Jaeger 5'9" | OH Fayetteville | 2023 State TX [2023] 5-9 Outside (HS: Fayetteville/Club: Texstar/ Verbal: Uncommitted)
Brooklyn is the 49th ranked prospect in the 2023 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. Miss Jaeger is from a small town located halfway between Houston and Austin. The population of Fayetteville is around 263. The town may be small, but Brooklyn’s talent is huge. This young lady is a point-scoring machine for her school and club team. She is a six rotation outside hitter who will only get better with more experience and time under her belt. Her ball control is exceptional and she is a primary passer in each rotation. Brooklyn has a lot of power in her attack and she can score both hard cross and down the line with her super fast arm swing. Brooklyn is the primary attacker for her high school team at such a young age and regularly records double digit kills in their matches. She plays for a great club in Texstar and we know that her club director Milton Koller will have her ready for the next level in a few years as he always has great talent in his program.
Symone Sims Symone Sims 5'4" | DS/L Lebanon Trail | 2023 State TX [2023] 5-5 Libero (HS: Lebanon Trail/Club: Dallas Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Miss Sims is currently ranked as the 57th top prospect in the 2023 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. This young lady has an exceptional float serve that she is able to locate and stifle opponents. She is a fantastic leader at such a young age as she has been named captain to almost every team she has been on in club. She has a wealth of experience as she has helped her team medal at USA Volleyball National Qualifiers over the last couple of years. She plays great defense in the back row and hustles all over the place. You can see her hustle on the court as she is always in a perfect position to cover all hitters. She keeps her head on a swivel and is ready for any emergency. One thing that really stands out is her balanced base as she moves on the court. Her footwork allows her serve receive to stay consistent. She is also great at any ball outside of her midline as she has a great angle on her platform to deliver the ball to her setter. We are excited to watch her grow as a libero as we think she is a good one to watch for the future.
Margot Manning Margot Manning 5'10" | S St. Johns | 2023 State #56 Nation TX [2023] 5-10 Setter (HS: St. Johns/Club: Houston Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Miss Manning comes in as the 58th ranked prospect in the 2023 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. As a setter she has a fantastic frame for her age. If that doesn’t get college coaches to look at her already, then one they see her release of the ball they will do a double take. It usually takes setters a few years to develop a release that is able to come off their hands both smooth and fast. Margot is one to watch as we will be moving her up the rankings fast. She is not only explosive as a setter but as a hitter also. She is great to have in a 6-2 offense as she is the type of player that will never come off of the court because she doubles as a point scoring attacker at the net. When you watch her play, you can see that she has “it” in the setting position. I foresee this young lady becoming one of the best setters in the age group if she continues to improve at the rate that she has so far. This kid can do it all. Skyline pulls her back in serve receive and she has such a great touch on the ball. There are multiple matches that she has recorded double digit kills. She is a leader at a young age at her St. Johns private school in the Houston area. Stay tuned to see how many spaces she moves up at our next rankings update in November.
