Following the combination of a long layoff and a shortened preseason due to COVID-19, Barbourville edged host Harlan County 3-2 (22-25, 25-15, 24-26, 25-22, 15-10) in the season opener.

The top performers for Barbourville were Alexis Woolum (16 kills, 16 assists, 21 digs, 11 service aces), April Roark (9 kills, 7 assists, 8 digs, 8 service aces), Kailey Napier (6 kills, 8 digs, 8 service aces), Aubrey Woolum (4 kills, 5 digs, 2 service aces), Tessa Hillard (4 kills, 12 digs) and Sydney Jones (5 digs, 9 service aces).
