Several top performers emerged as Barbourville visited Harlan County for a high school volleyball season opener on Monday, Sept. 7.
Following the combination of a long layoff and a shortened preseason due to COVID-19, Barbourville edged host Harlan County 3-2 (22-25, 25-15, 24-26, 25-22, 15-10) in the season opener.
Familiar foes, Barbourville and Harlan County are 13th Region rivals.
Here is a look at the top performers from the Barbourville-Harlan County match.
The top performers for Barbourville were Alexis Woolum (16 kills, 16 assists, 21 digs, 11 service aces), April Roark (9 kills, 7 assists, 8 digs, 8 service aces), Kailey Napier (6 kills, 8 digs, 8 service aces), Aubrey Woolum (4 kills, 5 digs, 2 service aces), Tessa Hillard (4 kills, 12 digs) and Sydney Jones (5 digs, 9 service aces).
In all, 11 different players competed for Barbourville in the season opener.
The top performers for Harlan County were Gracie Ewing (2 kills, 5 service aces), Lindsey Browning (2 kills, 3 blocks, 5 service aces) and Lilly Cabalerro (4 kills, 1 dig).

Barbourville is scheduled to host Harlan County for a late-season prep volleyball match on October
