Several standouts excelled as host Daviess County managed to edge rival Owensboro Catholic 3-2 in a 9th District volleyball match on Tuesday, Sept. 29.

Daviess County defeated Owensboro Catholic 24-26, 25-23, 16-25, 25-17, 15-11.

Determined Daviess County won its sixth straight match. Daviess County has won seven of its first eight matches in the 2020 high school volleyball season. The Panthers have carried momentum into the second half of the 2020 high school volleyball season. 

Both Daviess County and Owensboro Catholic will compete in the 9th District Volleyball Tournament in mid-late-October. 

The top performers for Daviess County were Elizabeth Moore (19 kills, 1 block, 8 digs, 1 service ace), Josie Newcom (13 kills, 4 blocks, 17 digs, 1 service ace), Jasmine Beasley (7 kills, 3 blocks, 7 digs), Adylan Ayer (6 kills, 3 blocks, 3 digs, 2 service aces), Kloee Phelps (3 kills, 14 digs, 2 service aces), Ryann Keller (2 kills, 30 assists, 5 digs), Kendal Goetz (2 assists, 21 digs) and Lexi Owen (12 assists, 4 digs, 1 service ace).
