If you’re still looking for a few studs to join your 2021 roster, look no further. Allegro Volleyball Club in Denville, NJ still has a few rockstars waiting for the right offer to come along.
#12 Lauren Burke, RS/OH, Chatham
Lauren Burke has experience all over the court. She first started out as a setter, but in high school transitioned outside and middle. She rounded out her junior club season as a right side, and it definitely seems like she’s found her home there. She’s a trusty blocker, always at least getting a piece of the ball, but usually puts it down. She plays the ball well to the outskirts of the court, but when she sees an opening, she has a lethal swing. In the back row, you can count on her to rack up some points on a service run before showing off her 3 point passes.
#10 Meaghan Lawrence, S, Pope John
Lefty setters are always a great asset to any squad. This athlete is a competent spot server with a powerful float. The way she controls the pace of the offense speaks to her years of experience in the position. In addition to running a fast offense with her club team, she also has a sneaky two hand dump. When in the front row, she sports an even sneakier lefty swing. She’s a dependable passer in the back as well. Any coach could count on Lawrence to keep the team in system and under control from anywhere on the court. There’s plenty more to note about this athlete here.
#29 Martina Foy, RS, Sparta
One of Foy’s greatest strengths on the court is her blocking. She’s a dependable force at the net, so much so that even when she doesn’t roof the opposing outside or middle, she’s managing to reach up and still grab a piece of the ball. Her work in the front row certainly lightens the load for the passers. When it’s time for her to swing, she plays a smart game. Foy is often able to swing off of the block, causing the front row to flounder, or sneak a well-placed chip into the open spaces on the court. It’s clear to see that Foy is playing the mental game just as well as the physical game, and she is always a few steps ahead.
#6 Sienna Martinez, OH, Montclair
Outside hitter Sienna Martinez brings the HEAT to any court. Standing at only 5’7”, she’s still a big presence at the net. This athlete can really hop, and while she hangs in the air, she’s picking apart the defense with a well placed, quick swing. I’m talking line shots, corners, cuts, you name it! If her offense isn’t enough for you, she’s also quite the competent blocker for her size. Her high school had a rough season in 2019 and she didn’t get a lot of support as a hitter. Even so, she still managed to sneak in 137 kills and 131 digs, second only to the libero.
