#4: Sky Moffitt Sky Moffitt 6'2" | MB Lafayette Jefferson | 2022 State IN , 6-2, Lafayette Jefferson
On a team with single-digit wins and everyone knows where the ball is going, Sky averages three kills per set and hits over .350. She also has nearly double the blocks than her next closest teammate. This is a kid that gets overlooked just because her team is down this year. How do you overlook 6-2 and jump touching almost ten feet?
#6: Abigail Kesler Abigail Kesler 5'11" | MB Muncie Burris | 2022 State #196 Nation IN , 5-11, Muncie Burris
From one end of the team accomplishment spectrum to the other, Burris is once again in the 3A mix to contend for a title. Abigail, like Sky, is the clear offensive leader for her team, averaging close to four kills per set while hitting almost .350. This Munciana-trained kid is a great option for multiple spots along the front row offensively because of her high volleyball IQ.
#10: Aniya Kennedy Aniya Kennedy 6'0" | MB La Porte | 2022 State IN , 6-0, La Porte
Another high-flyer who can bang is Miss Kennedy from the Slicers. Her team is also in the mix for a title run, but in 4A instead of 3A. What you need to know about Aniya is simple. You set her, she goes up and over block, pounds ball through the floor. Simple.
#18: Lovie Wallace Lovie Wallace 6'0" | MB Hamilton Southeastern | 2022 State IN , 6-0, Hamilton Southeastern
From the #1 team in the state, Lovie is a recent transfer from 2A defending champion Heritage Christian. I asked coach Jason Young how her transition to “big girl ball” is going. He mentioned that “It took her a little bit to learn the HSE way. I think she’s ok now.” Ya think? Two and a half kills per set, hitting over .350 and leading the squad in blocks is a good start.
#39: Sarah Bennett Sarah Bennett 6'0" | MB Columbus North | 2022 State IN , 6-0, Columbus North
Another kid overlooked because of the state of her high school team, this Circle City-trained kid is a banger with smarts in multiple tempi of sets. She loves hitting behind the setter, as it was made apparent to Terre Haute North yesterday afternoon multiple times in a sweep to wrap up their regular season. It’s unfortunate that she’s on THIS high school team, so I’m looking forward to her continued progression in club in January.
