The Heat’s Kacie Akers and the Redskins’ Lily Boughfman are both college-level talents that play for small schools and are looking for college offers.
Little River’s Top Three Performers
OH, Lily Boughfman, 6’0” – Boughfman is a solid Division II recruit and would be deserving of a look by Division I coaches. She is a big jumper and has a long reach. She hits the ball with authority but also can play the back row. She does not need to be rotated out of the match. Her best match was the opener against Rural Vista. She had 13 kills, six digs, and five service aces in the 21-25, 21-25 loss to Rural Vista.
OH, Aubrey Oblander, 5’8” – Oblander is just a freshman, but she stepped up in Little River’s loss to Halstead. Little River got off to a slow start against the Dragons, but she helped make the second game more competitive with five kills and two digs.
OH, Alaina Eck, 5’4” – Eck is an outstanding athlete. She starts varsity as a freshman and is expected to be a starting point guard for Little River when basketball season starts. Eck had a solid first match of the day with eight kills and nine digs against Rural Vista. She is one of four freshmen who start for the Redskins.
Rural Vista’s Top Three Performers
OH, Meghan Brockmeier 5’7” – Bethel University is expecting to get a solid talent off the Heat roster. Brockmeier has verbally committed to play for the Threshers in 2021. She has a big vertical and hits the ball with authority. She had nine kills and five digs in Rural Vista’s match against Little River and then added 10 kills and three digs against Goessel.
MH, Kacie Akers, 6’1” – Akers is a member of the Class of 2023 and will certainly have a spot in the Prep Dig Kansas ranking for that class when it is released. Akers does not have a huge jump, but she does have a big reach. The sophomore had seven kills and three blocks in the tow early matches of the day. Akers currently has a 4.0 GPA and will be an athlete college coaches should check out. She probably tops out as an NAIA recruit, but with two-plus years of high school, action left her skills will continue to grow.
OH, Cami Jacobson, 5’8” – Jacobson is a senior who should get some looks from JUCO programs. She had seven kills and five digs in a 25-21, 25-21 victory over Little River. Jacobson is a grinder and floor leader. Multiple times during the Invitational she extended rallies with a solid hustle play. Jacobson added six kills and eight digs in a 29-31, 14-25 loss to Goessel.
Rural Vista finished third in the Goessel portion of the tournament by defeating Little River 25-20 n 25-10 in the consolation game. With COVID-19 protocols in place, Canton Galva hosted three teams, while Goessel hosted three others.
