The city is located around thirty-one miles northwest from the center of downtown San Antonio and has a population of around 17,000. The Greyhounds are led by 2015 Boerne ISD Teacher of the year Tisha Pettibon. She has been at the helm for the last 11 years and the community loves her. They have made it to the playoffs in each of the last nine years. Coach Pettibon and her crew have reached the area playoffs for the last two years. They finished second in district just behind 4A powerhouse Wimberley last season. This season they have taken over. They are currently 19-4 overall and 6-2 in district.
The Boerne Greyhounds just completed a huge win this week as they claimed the Bi-District Championship as they swept the Cuero Volleyball team 3-0 in the first round of the 4A playoffs. They have been on a tear so far this season led by Madisyn Jones Madisyn Jones 5'9" | S Fredericksburg | 2023 State TX who does it all for the Greyhounds as a setter. Next up is a tough match in the playoffs against another great undefeated Needville team who is currently ranked as the number one team in 4A according to the latest TGCA poll. The match is set for Tuesday November 3rd. We are looking forward to covering this match as it should be very explosive.
Madisyn Jones Madisyn Jones 5'9" | S Fredericksburg | 2023 State TX [2023] 5-8 Setter (HS: Boerne/Club: Alamo/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Madisyn is currently ranked as the 52nd best prospect in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. Here is a little from our previous article, “As a setter, the ball comes off of her hands so smoothly in all locations along the net. She utilizes her Jump-set very effectively to keep the defense off-balance. She has great upper body control while setting which helps her location be extremely accurate. She plays club for a very impressive Alamo program who is nationally known and she runs that show as well. Last year as a Freshman, Maddie earned District 28-4A Newcomer of the Year, Academic All-District, Prep Volleyball Frosh59-Honorable Mention, and Academic All-District. You will be hearing her name a lot in the coming years.” We are happy to report that Madisyn just passed a great milestone in her young volleyball career as she surpassed the 1,200 career assist mark as just a sophomore. She has some incredible stats as she has 374 digs, 82 kills as a setter, and 70 aces. This kid is going to obliterate the record books at Boerne if she continues on this streak for the next two years.
Lauren Roberts [2023] 5-11 Right Side (HS: Boerne/Club: Alamo/Verbal: Uncommitted)
This young and fiery left-handed attacker has all of the tools to grow into a great playmaker for Boerne High for the next three years. While she is still growing into her frame, she hits the ball at an extremely high contact point, which will make it difficult to stop her attacks. She has many weapons in her offensive arsenal, but she regularly swings line to score for her club team on the right side. This past season she earned All-District Honorable Mention and Academic All-District for the Greyhounds. This season so far Miss Roberts has amassed 211 kills in 73 total sets played. She also has 27 aces and 139 digs on the year.
Addison Amick [2021] 5-6 Libero (HS: Boerne/Club: Ignite/Verbal: Uncommitted)
This competitive firecracker of a player plays with a lot of passion. She has been an all-around hitter in past years for club but is the Libero for the Greyhounds. Addison has great footwork and is very active on the court. She communicates very well on the court with her teammates. She reads the game like a coach does. It is very refreshing to see a player be that involved in the game while its being played. Last year she earned 2nd Team All-District and Academic All-District. The Greyhounds will rely on her leadership on the court. Miss Amick has 343 digs on the season and leads the team with 17.2 per match.
Kendra Schwarz [2021] 5-10 Middle/Outside (HS: Boerne/Club: SA Force/Verbal: Uncommitted)
This swing blocking middle plays with a lot of passion as well. She has the ability to hit to both corners, which helps her offensive efficiency. Kendra utilizes her lower body very well at the net loading up to block. While being slightly undersized at the middle position for the next level, she could easily play on the pins or in the back row for a small college program as she has excellent ball control. She will be a go to player for Madisyn Jones Madisyn Jones 5'9" | S Fredericksburg | 2023 State TX to set in the front row. The Greyhounds will be looking for her senior leadership in order to be in the hunt for a district crown. Miss Schwarz has totaled 145 kills in 73 total sets played. She also has 29 total blocks and leads the team in that category by a landslide.
