District 2 Prediction: Oakville for the championship
Oakville has a better record and the home-field advantage. I see them moving on over Fox in a 3-0 sweep. This district is all over the place, though. Oakville lost to Mehlville, Mehlville lost to Lindbergh, Lindbergh’s lost to everyone else, Fox lost to Mehlville by similar scores that Oakville lost to Mehlville. So Oakville could be the favorite by the record, but at this point, anyone could win. These teams haven’t played all that much this season. So I’m going to stick with seeds and take Oakville over Mehlville for the district title 3-2.
Semifinals
1 Oakville High School 10-1
4 Fox High School 8-6
Oakville has too much for Fox in a 3-0 sweep.
3 Lindbergh High School 4-10
2 Mehlville High School 4-6
Mehlville for the 3-1 win. Lindbergh won the last meeting 2-1 25-18, 19-25, 25-22. That was the second game of the season for Mehlville and third for Lindbergh. That was a month ago, and Lindbergh has lost 8 of the last 11. Mehlville has Jordan Iliff Jordan Iliff 6'1" | RS Mehlville | 2021 State MO , the Mizzou commit, and I think that will be enough to move them to the district championship.
Finals
1 Oakville High School 10-1
2 Mehlville High School 4-6
In the previous meeting, Oakville lost 25-22, 25-27, 25-16, 17-25, 13-15, where Jordan Iliff Jordan Iliff 6'1" | RS Mehlville | 2021 State MO 23 kills. Tess McConnell had 17, Regina Elquzabal had 13, and Liv Klump ended with 10. I see this being another all-out battle, but Oakville has more depth and will prevail in 5.
District 4 Prediction: Cor Jesu for the championship
1 Cor Jesu Academy High School 10-0
Lutheran South has moved up to Class 5 with prior success and will face Parkway South. Going with Parkway South in this match. With not much action from the two squads at this point, it’s a toss-up. Parkway South beat Mehlville, which I feel was a solid win. Parkway South than has no chance against Cor Jesu and goes down 0-3. Cor Jesu moves on to the championship.
Semifinals
5 Lutheran South High School 4-6
4 Parkway South High School 6-5
Lutheran South has moved up to Class 5 with prior success and will face Parkway South. Going with Parkway South in this match. With not much action from the two squads at this point, it’s a toss-up. 2 St. Joseph’s Academy High School 6-3
3 Kirkwood High School 8-5
The host Angels might have the edge here in just experience. Hannah Dressing and Lana Gerard come up big and out dual Kirkwood’s Olivia Williams and Tara Behnam to pull out a 3-2 win.
Finals
1 Cor Jesu Academy High School 10-0
2 St. Joseph’s Academy High School 6-3
This one is all Cor Jesu like the earlier season match-up, a 25-16, 25-14, 25-22 Charger win. Another stellar front row by Addison Erusha, Maddie Hoffman, Sidney Hogan gives the Chargers another district championship.
