Continue ReadingThis might not have been the traditional way to break on to the varsity scene, but these athletes took compete advantage playing in the varsity division of the Prep Dig Fall League. The Freshmen and Sophomores were an instant impact for their teams. They have a solid foundation of skills, fundamentally sound, and will be fun to watch their progression as they have plenty of momentum heading into the club season.
Ashton Birr and Emily Bruss – Pulaski
These two provide a really dependable first two contacts for Pulaski. Birr is a libero who is scrappy, athletic, and covers plenty of territory. Her counterpart, Emily Bruss, is a really solid Class of 2024 setter with a smooth release and can go from pin to pin with a variety of tempos. Even as a Freshman, Bruss commands the court and has shown plenty of potential of what can be a very decorated career.
Kimberly Class of 2023
This sophomore class at Kimberly has athletes at every position that can contribute in a big way. Ava Rank Ava Rank 5'5" | DS/L Kimberly | 2023 State WI provides a solid first contact from the backrow and is solid in serve receive. Setter, Macy Herman Macy Herman 5'11" | S Kimberly | 2023 State WI is the smooth setter who can run the run show and even attack on her own. Their attackers are comprised of Kyla Dunaway Kyla Dunaway 6'4" | RS Kimberly | 2023 State WI , Payton Chevalier Payton Chevalier 5'10" | MB Kimberly | 2023 State WI , and Kaitlin Schulz Kaitlin Schulz 6'0" | OH Kimberly | 2023 State WI . Dunaway is 6’3, athletic, and is so dangerous offensively and defensively. Chevalier has made a huge jump in her game where she is a quick leaper out of the middle and has a fast arm swing. Schulz is developing into a real offensive threat where she has a nice swing and can score points.
Elle Kennedy – Sheboygan North
Kennedy is quick on the court. She grew up watching Dru Kuck Dru Kuck 5'8" | DS/L Sheboygan North | 2019 State WI own the position who is now playing at Kansas State. Kennedy really evolved over the course of the season adjusting to the speed of the varsity game and being able to serve receive at the varsity level. She will be a huge addition to the first contact of North this spring for their season as well as carrying plenty of momentum into the club season.
Ella Demetrician and Karissa Fortune Karissa Fortune 6'2" | OH Appleton North | 2023 State WI – Appleton North
Demetrician is one of the top freshmen in the state while Fortune is building off a strong freshman season last year with an expanded role as a sophomore. Demetrician can attack and terminate with the best of them, she will be the most dominant attacker this club season from her class. Fortune can play on either pin and can pass extremely well where she is a threat in any rotation.
One to definitely put on the radar this club season, Class of 2023 setter Sydney Schultz Sydney Schultz 5'7" | S Verona | 2023 State WI , moves really well, great release, exciting athlete! pic.twitter.com/ZOkUWHBLlu

Sydney Schultz Sydney Schultz 5'7" | S Verona | 2023 State WI – Verona
Schultz can really run an offense. Verona had a double dose of solid setting with Schultz and Anna Bohrer Anna Bohrer 6'0" | DS/L Verona | 2021 State WI . Schultz is quick and can run a quick tempo offense where she can go from pin to pin with great placement. She will be gearing up for her 16s year of club where she will definitely be an impact player.
Kennedy Martin – De Pere
Martin will head into the club season as one of the top prospects out of the Class of 2023 in Wisconsin. At 6’5, long, athletic, and an approach jump of 10’6, Martin has a solid foundation in the backrow and will be a lethal attacker from any position on the court.
Mya Kapalko – Notre Dame
NDA is always a fundamentally sound team that is competitive and this fall league was no different. Kapalko is a rising sophomore from the Class of 2023. She is primarily a DS, but is an all around athlete and player with a big beach background as well. Her range and IQ are major strengths to her game.
Jordan LaScala Jordan LaScala 6'0" | OH Middleton | 2023 State WI and Evinae Jordee Evinae Jordee 5'9" | S Middleton | 2023 State WI – Middleton
These two are going to be a force to be reckoned with in the Madison area. LaScala is a solid attacker and is always an option out of the backrow. Jordee is a left handed setter that is a solid all around player regardless of what position she is playing. She knows how to make positive touches for her team and if that means setter or attacking, she does whatever it takes.
Marissa Corso Marissa Corso MB Neenah | 2023 State WI – Neenah
Corso is extremely dynamic out of the middle. She can get from pin to pin to seal the block, but works her way in transition to be able to swing and attack. She also has a great court sense to know when and where to tip, push to the corner, or hit a sharp angle.
