Continue ReadingOver the next few months I will be rolling out some articles that will recognize teams who have been playing exceptionally well this volleyball season. I will still be doing our regular highlight articles on multiple athletes for exposure, however I wanted to do some special articles on a few teams that we are getting to know quite well with Prep Dig TX. This week we will give special recognition to the Brenham Cubettes Volleyball Team as they are our High School Team of the Week.
Brenham High School is located in the east-central Texas area and have a population of around 17,000 people. They have been to the playoffs fifteen times since the year 2000. This season they are on a mission. They reached the Bi-District round last year and are looking to go deeper into the playoffs this year. They are currently 9-0 on the young season (2-0 in district) and not looking to stop their winning ways any time soon. They have been on a tear lately sweeping most of their opponents in impressive fashion. They have already beaten multiple 6A programs during their hot start. The Brenham Volleyball team is currently ranked as the 2ndbest team according to the TGCA Volleyball Rankings. I have a feeling they will move up that list again. Here are a few of the players that are helping them continue their dominance on the volleyball court:
Brooke Bentke Brooke Bentke 6'2" | OH Brenham | 2023 State #112 Nation TX [2023] 6-2 Outside (HS: Brenham/Club: Woodlands Revolution)
Brooke is currently ranked as the 25th best prospect in the State of Texas according to our Prep Dig Rankings in the class of 2023. We recently wrote an article about her earlier in the summer. Here is a little from the article, “She is a lengthy six rotation pin hitter who is the “go-to” scorer for her talented Woodlands Revolution club squad. She can light it up with the best of them as she scores at will in a variety of ways. Most players at this age, need almost a perfect set to score. Not Brooke. When the set is inside or off, she can still adjust her approach accordingly and still have the timing to hit with power. She can find the hole in the block, she can swing around it and go line, and she has so much power that she can tool the block at will. Standing at six foot two, she is a towering presence at the net against her opponents. For most tall blockers, they don’t load up much to jump and block. My favorite thing about Brooke is how she still bends her knees and loads up so much to block. This tells me that she has a passion for the game that not many have. Brooke has the potential to move up our rankings very rapidly if she stays on her course. We cannot wait to see how she does in her high school varsity season.” It is safe to say that this young lady isn’t going anywhere soon. She has been leading the way for her high school team since last year as a freshman. This phenom is going to move up the rankings soon. Stay tuned to see how far she has moved once I update the rankings next month. She has been lighting it up on both pins so far this season for Brenham and the record books better watch out as they will have this stud for a couple of more years.
Alyssa Pauler [2021] 5-6 Libero (HS: Brenham/Club: Aggie Elite/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Alyssa is currently unranked according to our rankings in the 2021 class, but she is a fantastic libero that we are keeping our eye on to see where she falls on our rankings for the future updates. She has excellent defensive skills and is not afraid to give up her body during emergency techniques to keep the ball in play. She plays relentless defense and it is very infectious to her teammates. She is their star libero for Brenham and they will continue to dominate their district because of her defensive play. She has a solid float serve that is pretty accurate for zone serving and her serve receive keeps her team in system to stay offensively efficient.
Abby Clayton [2021] 6-0 Middle/Right Side (HS: Brenham/Club: Woodlands Revolution/Verbal: Sam Houston St)
Abby is currently unranked according to our rankings in the 2021 class, but that will change one I update them next month. Abby is a big and strong lefty middle who also hits out of the right side. She is a fantastic weapon to have for an offense because of her ability to hit on either side of the setter with power. She is extremely athletic and will do wonders for Sam Houston St University next year. She gets off of the ground extremely quickly and is always ready to hit quick tempo from her setters. She has been a stud for Brenham over the past couple of years and she is one big reason why they are so dominant this season out of the gates. This kid can absolutely unload on the ball and score with power. The Cubettes are really enjoying success from her blocking skills. Stay tuned to see where she falls on our rankings next month.
We will continue to cover Brenham as they dominate their district on the way to another deep run in the playoffs. There is no doubt in my mind that this team isn’t destined for greatness this season. They have the tools necessary for a great run.
We will be publishing more articles weekly to give recognition to those teams and athletes who are playing great in their matches. Stay tuned for more articles on your favorite athletes. If you have anyone that you think deserves to be recognized as a player of the week, feel free to send me a message with their information. Or if you have anyone that you think have what it takes to be added to our database, please shoot me an email with some info at nov8vb@yahoo.com. As always, thanks for following our publication.
