Noelle VanOort started the 2020 season with a bang as she tallied 24 kills for Kasson-Mantorville despite a 3-1 loss to defending Class 2A state champion Stewartville Thursday.

VanOort also posted nine digs for the Komets.

The Hiawatha Valley League rivals clashed amid 137 other games around Minnesota as matches took place for the first time since MSHSL’s decision to move the sport back to the fall.

Converse also had a big night for the Komets. The 5-10 junior setter totaled 45 set assists in the loss to Stewartville.

Andover’s 5-3 senior libero/defensive specialist shined with 25 digs in a 3-0 win over Blaine. She also posted three service aces.

Presley Sommers

Middle blocker Presley Sommers helped Andover around the net with six blocks in a 3-0 victory against Blaine. The 5-11 senior also had three kills and digs each.
