The win allowed 2019 state runner-up Mercy to advance to the 6th Region Volleyball Tournament title match.
With the win, Mercy improved to 17-2.
Bullitt Central ended its season 16-3 with the loss.
The top performers for Mercy were Ella Teeley (4 kills, 4 blocks, 46 assists, 8 digs, 2 service aces), Katie Poynter Katie Poynter 5'8" | OH Mercy | 2023 State KY (18 kills, 3 digs), Sydney Shaffer (11 kills, 1 block, 9 digs, 3 service aces), Aubrey Hennis (9 kills, 1 block, 3 service aces), Emma Barnett (8 kills, 5 blocks, 1 assist), Mary Schneidtmiller (6 kills, 1 block) and Elle Jackson (16 digs, 1 service ace).
The top performers for Bullitt Central were Brooke Kiefer (8 kills, 1 block, 35 digs, 3 service aces), Brianna Jensen (8 kills, 2 blocks, 2 assists, 2 digs), Jenna Mattingly (30 digs, 1 assist), Brandi Norris (24 digs, 2 kills), Kacee Blair (6 kills, 4 blocks, 1 dig, 4 service aces), Gabrielle Langford (5 kills) and Claire Hart (1 kill, 5 blocks, 18 assists, 4 digs, 2 service aces).
Familiar foes, Mercy (24th District Champion) and Bullitt Central (23rd District Champion) did not meet during the shortened 2020 high school volleyball regular season.
The reigning 6th Region champion, Mercy reached the state volleyball tournament title match in 2019.
Perennial state championship contender Mercy advanced to meet Holy Cross (Louisville) in the 6th Region title match.
