A member of the 12th District, Grayson County won 25-14, 25-27, 25-10, 25-21.
Grayson County notched a win over 9th District member Owensboro for the second time in the 2020 high school volleyball season.
With the win, Grayson County improved to 13-1.
Owensboro dropped to 8-6 with the loss.
The top performers for Grayson County were Ella Robinson (19 kills, 2 blocks, 9 digs, 1 service ace), Chloe Cox (6 kills, 1 assist, 6 digs), Kenzie Skaggs (5 kills, 1 block, 3 assists, 4 digs, 1 service ace), Brieanna Boll (2 kills, 25 assists, 6 digs, 2 service aces), Bailey Richardson (2 assists, 24 digs) and Lillie Payne (2 kills, 2 blocks, 1 assist, 7 digs, 3 service aces).
The top performers for Owensboro were Lainey Hayden (10 kills, 1 block, 2 assists, 9 digs), Brooklyn Williams (8 kills, 1 block, 2 digs), Krystell Pappas (6 kills, 16 assists, 11 digs, 6 service aces), Mia Covington (3 kills, 3 blocks, 6 digs), Addie McDaniel (3 kills, 6 digs) and Jersie Rhineburger (1 kills, 3 assists, 9 digs).
Grayson County is the reigning 12th District champion. The Cougars compiled a 16-13 record in 2019.
Owensboro ended the 2019 high school volleyball season 13-22 following a loss to rival Owensboro Catholic in the 9th District Semifinals.
Both Grayson County and Owensboro will enter the postseason later in the month.
