The setter is like the quarterback of the volleyball team. Ideally, every second ball is hers. She runs every offensive play, while still maintaining a back row, defensive position. Her job is incredibly hard between knowing every teammate's next move, making the perfect set, and anticipating where every opposite blocker and defender will be next. Setters deserve a lot more credit than they are typically given; for every superstar hitter, there was a setter that put her in the exact, perfect position.


Maddie Avergonzado - 5’1”- S - East Lake High School 

Maddie Avergonzado has been on East Lake High’s Varsity team since her Freshman year in 2018-19. In the last three seasons, she has played in 118 sets and completed 237 assists. Maddie is an incredibly fast player; she can get to any ball on the court with ease and her athleticism shines through when she is in a high-pressure match.
