Both teams have young players who scouts should watch the next couple of seasons.
Here is a scouting report of the Lions and Tigers players who played well during Sub State.
OH, Silja Fahnestock, 5’7”, Goddard– Fahnestock is not an overly tall player, but she has a nice vertical and a solid swing. The junior led the Lions with three kills and 11 service receptions in a one-sided 25-3, 25-15 loss to Maize South in the opening match of the day. Fahnestock probably peaks as a talent that could help a Junior College program.
DS, Cydney Carter, 5’8”, Goddard – Carter, another junior, is a solid leader for the Lions. She had four digs and three service receptions. Carter has quick feet and will be leaned on next season if the Lions hope to improve their record from 2020.
MB, Isabel Trometer, 6’0”, Eisenhower – Trometer was the best player on the court for the Tigers and has a high ceiling. She played well enough to be added to the Prep Dig Kansas Class of 2022 player rankings the next time they are updated. She has a big powerful swing and a long reach. She had a team-high 12 kills in a 25-17, 25-22 loss to Maize High. Trometer also added two blocks, two digs, and one service reception.
L, Anicia Tyson-Salas, 5’5”, Eisenhower – Tyson-Salas plays hard and is one of just two seniors on the Eisenhower roster. She finished with 10 digs and seven serve receptions against a big-hitting Maize team. She has yet to receive a college offer but could be a solid addition to an area JUCO team.
