Goessel went 2 and 2 in the tournament in which it hosted a four-team pod because of COVID-19 Protocols. Three other teams; Sunrise Christian Academy, Solomon, and Wichita Homeschool played at Canton Galva.
Here is a look at the Bluebirds top performers from the October 3 action.
Top Three Performers Of The Day
OH, Rachael Zogelman, 5’6” – Zogelman is an athlete. She is quick, a jumper, and player a college program could build around. In Goessel’s first two matches the junior amassed 18 kills and 10 blocks. She has a quick powerful swing and communicates well with her teammates.
OH, Rachael Boese, 5’6” – The Goessel’ senior best match of the day came against Rural Vista. She had nine kills and five digs. She can play both front and back rows. If a JUCO program needs a role player, take a look at Boese. She is a senior and is looking for her first offer to play college volleyball.
MH, Jaicee Griffin, 5’7” – Griffin is a young raw talent. It’s unclear what role she will play for Goessel as the team moves forward, but her role will be as a starter. Griffin had four kills in Goessel’s 19-25, 25-22, 22-25 loss to Halstead to open the tournament. This is a freshman for college scouts to put in their memory banks.
Goessel finished second in the tournament, knocking off Little River and Rural Vista before losing to Halstead for the second time 16-25 ad 12-25.
