“…Recognizing the top underclassmen athletes in the country. The requirements for having an athlete on the AVCA Phenom List are: The student-athlete must be an underclassman who has been recognized in some form for her outstanding volleyball abilities (All-Region, All-State, PVB Watchlist, USAV HP team, etc.) AND the student-athlete’s high school head coach, club coach, or club director must be an active AVCA member.”
Washington was fortunate enough to have twenty-four athletes from the class of 2024, 2023, and 2022 recognized. Below are the athletes from the class of 2024 and 2023:
2024
Lauren Dreves, 6’2”, OH, Columbia River High School, Oregon Juniors Volleyball Club
Though Dreves has not competed with Columbia River High School yet as the season was postponed due to COVID-19, it is safe to say she will be an impact player for them. Due to her birthday cutoff, she has to play one year ahead of her peers, so this past season she played on the 15-1 National team at Oregon Juniors Volleyball Academy. Because of this, she has already got a taste of what volleyball looks like at a more competitive and fast-paced level and thrived. She swings fast driving the ball at her defenders with ferocious velocity. She has become multifaceted in her attacking, mixing up how and where she places the ball. The younger sister of Alison Dreves Alison Dreves 5'10" | OH Columbia River | 2021 State WA , a Marian University commit, and the daughter of Theresa Dreves, who played at Gonzaga University, she has grown up in the gym. Being exposed to volleyball from a young age, when it was finally her time to play, she improved rapidly, seeing success as an attacker for her 12U and 14U teams. She has really honed in on her defense the past couple of seasons to become a standout all-around player. Last club season she played for Oregon Juniors Volleyball Academy 15-1 National team.
She is the only athlete from the class of 2024 to make this list from Washington.
2023
Abby Harrell, 5’9”, OH, Ellensburg High School, Central Region United Volleyball Club
Harrell had a dominant season for the Ellensburg High School Bulldogs. Despite being the only freshman on the Bulldog’s roster, she ended up an impact player and a go-to attacker for the team. She helped them finish second in the 2A State tournament, falling to Ridgefield High School. She was awarded First Team All-State and First Team All-League. Harrell has a powerful arm swing and is versatile in where she places the ball. She is known to swing away at out of system balls, a valuable asset for any six rotation outside hitter. Though most comfortable on the outside, she is capable of swinging at any position across the front and back row. During club season, she was also given the opportunity to play libero in some matches, as she has great ball control on both defense and serve recieve. She is also actively involved in 4-H. Last club season she played for Central Region United Volleyball Club 16-Max National team.
Ellie Marble, 6’0”, OH, LaConner High School, Skagit Island Volleyball Academy

Marble comes from a family of volleyball players, her sister played for LaConner and helped them win a state championship, before becoming the starting setter at Central Washington University. Her mother, who has been the head coach at LaConner high school for twenty-seven seasons, was awarded Coach of the Year this past season and has been inducted into the Washington State Coaches Hall of Fame. Marble is a powerful attacker, with just as strong of an attack in the backrow. She is not afraid to take the big swings. She has great ball control which makes her indispensable to her team. She was also a member of the Varsity basketball team. Last club season she played for Skagit Island Volleyball Academy 16-1 National team.
Taylor Kieser, 5’10”, RS/S, Selah High School, Central Region United
Kieser had a standout freshman season for the Selah High School Vikings, helping them finish eighth in the 2A State tournament. She has a fast arm swing and is able to place the ball down the line with ease. Also a beach volleyball player, her shots have come in handy. During club season she sees time as a setter as well, running a 6-2, but during high school was their dominant right side. When setting she has great hand strength, so she is able to find her pin hitters and give them the ball to terminate. She is also a competitive horseback rider. Last club season she played for Central Region United Volleyball Club 16-Max National team.
