As we head into sections there are many familiar names and lots of new one’s working to increase their teams’ potential. Here are 10 stock risers to watch:
Jordyn Newgard; 2021 – Mabel Canton
- The 5’5’’ outside hitter is a key contributor for the undefeated Cougars. She brings experience and consistency to the team. They depend on her for offense and defense. Whether she is getting ace serves or running down digs, part of their success is because of well balanced offense that players like Newgard provide. A true product of a strong fundamental program, she has the ability to boost her team to the top.
Camryn Olsen; 2021 – South Ridge
- When you can depend on your middle hitter to put the ball down with 0.312 effiency like Camryn does, it will lead to successful post-season. Already she has over 100 kills this season which included 21 kills in their loss to Barnum. She brings an athleticism to the team and typically plays all six rotations. Olsen has a strong swing and moves well along the net.
Maci Lake; 2023 – Sebeka
- Moved up to varsity from an early age, the 5’9’’ hitter typically swings out of the middle. She is a great jumper and sees the court well with well placed tips and strong-angled hits. After pounding a few balls down, she switches out to set. This makes for insane stats with double digits in nearly every category. In their match against Bertha Hewitt Lake added 15 digs, 14 assists, and 10 kills. When they are in a tough match, expect the ball to be in the hands of Lake.
Hailey Hindt; 2021 – Grand Meadow
- The Southeast is a tough section, but Hindt always puts forth a strong effort. She brings speed. Everything she does is fast. It has been good to see her develop into a top volleyball athlete in addition to being division one track recruit. In their first 6 matches she averaged at least 4 kills per set.
Maddie Krage; 2021 – Fillmore Central
- The top team in the Three Rivers conference centers their offense around Krage. She is the player maker and leader for the team. The 5’6’’ outside hitter has an explosive approach and incredible accuracy. This year she has over 140 kills. Their season looks to be over but she helped secure their position at the top of their area.
