Continue ReadingWe at Prep Dig want to continue to highlight great accomplishments and give kudos to those who deserve it after all of the hard work they put in to their craft. We are going to highlight a few players who have recently committed to playing at the next level in their volleyball career. Say congrats to these three ladies on what they just accomplished:
Dakota Hartman Dakota Hartman 6'0" | OH Decatur | 2022 State TX [2022] 6-0 Outside/Middle/Right Side (HS: Decatur/Club: Attack Volleyball/Verbal: Lehigh University)
Kota is currently the 28th ranked prospect in the State of Texas according to the Prep Dig State Rankings. We wrote an article earlier in the year that stated “The aspect I love the most about Kota is how hard of an approach she takes to attack. She drives her feet into the ground so hard that I’m surprised they don’t leave holes in the ground. It’s almost as if her legs are angry at the ground and she’s punishing it with her jump. I love it. This allows her to sky when she’s swinging. If that isn’t enough, this young lady has an absolute cannon for an arm. She hits just as hard as anyone in her class. She showcases great hand contact control while scoring in multiple ways. She hits line better than most in the age group and can definitely swing the cross-court attack. The way she plays the game is just ferocious and it’s nice to watch. She has a wicked float serve that is very dangerous to her opponents. She is a six rotation outside who has great ball control as well. She is capable of playing on both pins and can shut down opposing hitters with her blocks also as she seals the net very well with a strong upper body and great length in her arms.” We feel very strongly that this young lady will continue to rise in the rankings with how strong she is on the court. She plays the game the way every coach would want a player to play…with heart! This season she has been nothing but spectacular for her high school team and she will help lead them to a deep run into the state playoffs. We are proud to announce that Miss Hartman has committed to Lehigh University. She is so versatile on the court and brings so much power, athleticism and raw fire to every team she plays for. We know that she will be a star for the Lehigh program the moment she steps on campus for them in a few years.
Claire Romo [2021] 5-7 Setter (HS: Sachse/Club: Dallas Premier/Signed: Southwestern University)
Claire is currently unranked in the 2021 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She is a tenacious defender who is not afraid to put her body on the floor to keep her team alive in the rally. She has also a very skilled setter who has very soft hands and is able to set the full arsenal of weapons along the net at all tempos and locations. She locates her quick sets very well and the ball comes out of her hands extremely fast. She will be able to help the southwestern program in a variety of ways. Her defense is something that shows very well against great competition. She is able to extend her range well despite her height. There are balls that you think are down and then out of nowhere Claire lays out and saves it. We are looking forward to watching her for the rest of her senior season and congratulate her on committing to Southwestern University.
Avery Long [2021] 5-7 Defensive Specialist (HS: Waxahachie/Club: Texas Image/Signed: University of Alabama at Birmingham)
Avery is currently unranked in the 2021 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings, but that will change once I update the rankings later on this month. Miss Long just signed her letter of intent at UAB and we couldn’t be more proud. She is a strong Libero/DS for Waxahachie High School and her Texas Image club. We talk about all of these volleyball players on our list having athleticism, but Miss Long is the epitome of this in the libero position. The ability to use her entire body to absorb a hard driven serve or attack is something that we call collapsing. She collapses her body so well and softens the contact to deliver a beautiful ball to her setter. It is something that takes a volleyball player a long time to get right, but she has it naturally. Serve receive is her bread and butter and she always keeps her team in-system during first contact. I think she will do very well at UAB next season and we are excited to watch her during her last year.
We will be publishing more articles weekly to give recognition to those teams and athletes who are playing great in their matches. Stay tuned for more articles on your favorite athletes. If you have anyone that you think deserves to be recognized as a player of the week, feel free to send me a message with their information. Or if you have anyone that you think have what it takes to be added to our database, please shoot me an email with some info at nov8vb@yahoo.com. As always, thanks for following our publication.
