First we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
The Sea-Tac District is expected to be one of the most exciting in the state as it places together 13 high schools from the 1B and 2B classes and some of their players with the greatest upside are:
Bridget Hitt – Middle-Blocker – Junior – Quilcene
Quilcene had a positive campaign in the district last season winning seven of its nine matches and Bridget Hitt was one of the players who stood out in their campaign. The 5’8” middle-blocker was particularly impressive at the net, leading the team in blocks with 48 and being the Rangers’ second-best prolific hitter with 91 kills. Hitt showed signs of being capable to evolve to become a solid all-around player with her 28 aces and 53 digs as well.
Addy Schmidt – Libero – Junior – Crosspoint
Crosspoint has a case for being the best defensive team in the entire district last season and a lot of it relates to Addy Schmidt’s solid game. The 5’4” defender was at her best when leading the Warriors’ backcourt efforts and her strong contribution with 342 digs, averaging 5.3 per set, and 162 passes were among the reasons the team advanced all the way to the State Championship.
Sophia Oliinik – Middle-Blocker – Senior – Pudget Sound Adventist
Sophia Oliinik was a factor in Pudget Sound Adventist’s 2019 campaign when the Sharks won all of their nine matches in the district. The 5’7” middle-blocker was the team’s leading blocker with 21 points earned at the net, but also contributed significantly in other aspects of the game with 104 kills (the fourth-best mark in the roster), 33 aces, 154 digs and a team second-best 228 passes.
Stormie Elkins – Setter – Freshman – Quilcene
Anyone watching Stormie Elkins play for Quilcene last season certainly didn’t think it was an eight-grader out there doing all she did. The 5’5” prospect managed to leave a strong impression even before entering high school with a team-high 190 assists as the team’s leading setter, but also brought some valuable contribution in more unexpected forms with a team’s second-best 20 blocks, 116 digs and 30 kills.
