First we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
District 1B Coastal will have a new look next season, with three of its seven high schools joining from the 2B class, and their best three players are:
Payton Torrey – Outside Hitter – Sophomore – Mossyrock
Payton Torrey had a very strong freshman season with Mossyrock, being a key member of the Vikings team that went undefeated 11-0 at the 2B Central district last year. The 5’8” outside hitter, who’s also a track and field student-athlete, was the team’s second-best scorer with 145 kills and also contributed in other areas of the game, adding 37 aces, 214 digs and 197 passes. Her great all-around game took her to the All-League second team.
Lanissa Amacher – Setter – Junior – Willapa Valley
Willapa Valley dominated the 2B Pacific District with nine wins in as many matches and Lanissa Amacher has played a big role in their campaign. The versatile 5’8” prospect has all the tools to perform well in basically any position, but Amacher, who’s also a talented basketball player, really found her best spot at setter, where she can put all of her leadership skills to the benefit of the Vikings. Her strong season propelled her to receive an All-State team honorable mention.
Hailey Brooks – Middle-Blocker/Right Sider – Sophomore – Mossyrock
Hailey Brooks is another member of Mossyrock’s interesting freshman class that helped the team advancing all the way to finish third in the 2B class in 2019. Versatility is arguably her main asset as besides being able to play middle-blocker and right sider, the 5’8” prospect has proved last year she could help the Vikings in several areas of the game with 74 kills, 55 aces, 40 blocks, 146 digs and 121 passes.
