First we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
District 1B North Olympic will stage competition between four high schools and their best three players are:
Grace Buzzell – Libero – Senior – Neah Bay
Grace Buzzell has been a standout for Neah Bay in each of her three seasons of high school volleyball. In 2019, the 5’2” defensive star was at her best and helped the Red Devils cruising undefeated in the district with nine wins in a row and a run at the State Championship for a second-straight season. Her game continues impressing as besides earning a second-consecutive All-State second-team nomination she was also selected as the district’s Defensive MVP.
Patience Swan – Outside Hitter – Senior – Clallam Bay
Patience Swan is a talented multi-sport student-athlete as she also has reached a good level of success with Clallam Bay’s basketball team. Her game on a volleyball court is lights out as she was arguably the Bruins’ best player on their 2019 campaign, when the team won six of their nine matches in the district. The strong game showed by the 5’9” outside hitter earned her a spot in the All-League first team, her second time there.
Oceana Aguirre – Outside Hitter – Junior – Neah Bay
Oceana Aguirre was instrumental to Neah Bay’s success in 2019 with her strong game at the net. The 5’8” outside hitter was the centerpiece of the Red Devils’ attacking system and lived up to the expectations, being awarded as the All-League Offensive MVP. Aguirre has received All-State nods in each of her two seasons of high school volleyball, moving from an honorable mention in 2018 to securing a second-team spot last season.
