First we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
District 1B Northeast is set to be one of the most exciting and competitive ones in the state with as many as 14 high schools and some of their players with the greatest upside are:
Kaci Harman – Outside Hitter – Junior – Republic
Kaci Harman didn’t shy away from the responsibility of becoming the focal point of Republic’s game in just her second season of high school volleyball. The 5’9” outside hitter led the team’s offense with 129 kills, nearly half of the Tigers’ entire production, and also contributed significantly in other areas of the game with 16 blocks, 111 digs, 35 aces and 103 passes, leading the team in the first two skills. Her strong game earned her an All-League first-team selection.
Joycelynn Hottell – Middle-Blocker/Outside Hitter – Senior – Odessa
A versatile player capable of performing well at both the middle-blocker and the outside hitter positions, Joycelynn Hottell will most likely be a centerpiece for Odessa in 2020. The 5’11” heavy-hitter will be required to step up her game with the departure of some star seniors from their last campaign and she gave all signs she’s up for the task in 2019, when she ended the year with 91 kills, 42 blocks and 135 digs.
Kylie Corcoran – Outside Hitter – Senior – Northport
Kylie Corcoran formed a strong duo with Eliza Stark in the core of Northport’s team last season. The talented outside hitter used her 5’9” to play a prominent role in the team’s offensive, being the Mustangs’ second-most offensive hitter with 117 kills, but she didn’t stop there, ranking second also in aces (68), third in blocks (15) and passes (107) and fourth in digs (67). Corcoran was rewarded with an All-League first-team inclusion.
