First we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
It’s time to hit District 1B Northwest, where ten high schools are set to compete, and their best three players are:
Abbey Boas – Setter – Junior – Grace Academy
Abbey Boas was the heart and soul of a Grace Academy team that took the program to the State Championship for the first time after 13 attempts last year. The talented setter coordinated the Eagles’ crafty offense, but went above and beyond, being the team’s emotional leader and a lethal server. Her strong game in her sophomore session and her easily noticeable fighting spirit took her to the All-State team as an honorable mention.
Paige Johnson – Outside Hitter – Junior – Providence Classical Christian
Paige Johnson was one of responsible for Providence Classical Christian’s historic State Championship campaign in 2019, when the team finished eighth, its best result so far. The 5’6” outside hitter formed a strong partnership with All-State team senior libero Claire Lyshol in the backcourt and also got the job done at the net for the Highlanders proving to be pivotal to their aspirations in the next couple of seasons.
Ava DeKoekkoek – Outside Hitter – Junior – Shoreline Christian
Ava Dekoekkoek has been Shoreline Christian’s go-to scoring option in each of her two seasons of high school volleyball. The 5’6” outside hitter has a strong game at the net and is also to play as a middle-blocker if necessary, providing some interesting versatility to the Charges. Her strong 2019 campaign earned her a spot on the All-State team as an honorable mention.
