First we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
The west portion of the 1B Southeast District features six high schools and some of their players with the greatest upside are:
Briana Andrade – Outside Hitter – Sophomore – Touchet
Briana Andrade had a promising first season of high school volleyball with Touchet last year and generated some real excitement for what the next few years could bring. The 5’10” outside hitter had her ups and downs, as any newcomer would, but showed the ability to deliver to the Indians in different areas of the game, registering an 11-kill, three-block performance in a 3-2 win over Prescott and having an 11-dig match against Colton.
Ella Alseth – Setter – Junior – Sunnyside Christian
Ella Alseth is set to enjoy her first season as Sunnyside Christian’s main setter after splitting the duties with the graduated Grace van Belle during the last two seasons. Considering her 2019 performance, the 5’3” certainly seems ready for the job as besides taking care of her setting duties very well, the prospect also helped the Knights in other areas of the game with powerful serves and interesting defensive skills.
Tayle’ Mooney – Outside Hitter / Setter – Sophomore – DeSales
Tayle’ Mooney didn’t need more than one season to show the kind of impact she could do for DeSales on a volleyball court. The 5’6” outside hitter is one of the most technically-gifted players in the entire district, which allows her to take over the setting duties if needed. She really excels when deployed as an outside hitter, though, where she can use her technique to be efficient at the net and add to the team’s backcourt game.
