First we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
The 2A Evergreen District features seven high schools and some of their players with the greatest upside are:
Alyssa Duncan – Middle-Blocker – Junior – Tumwater
There’s more than one reason why Alyssa Duncan could be considered one of the most promising players in the district. For starters, she’s part of a Tumwater team that’s among the best in the area, working under All-League co-Coaches of the Year Jordan Stray and Jill Giudice and being held to high standards. Her 6’1” frame doesn’t hurt either as she has no trouble placing her arms across the net when blocking and becoming a factor for the Thunderbirds as she did in 2019.
Sage Foust – Opposite – Junior – Black Hills
Sage Foust has all the tools to be an elite opposite in college or even professionally. The Black Hills prospect stands at 5’9”, a great size from someone looking to play in the position. She’s also a lefty, the perfect fit for hitters who operate on the right side of the net. And the best is that despite of these skills, she doesn’t base her game purely on power, being also a smart hitter when the occasion so demands. Her progress with the Wolves in 2019 has been rewarded with an All-League team honorable mention.
Chantheda No – Outside Hitter – Senior – Aberdeen
Aberdeen didn’t have much to take from its last year’s campaign with the team losing all its ten district matches and winning only two sets, but if something could be qualified as a bright spot for the Bobcats it was Chanthenda No’s game. At 5’4”, she’s certainly not a scoring machine, having ended the season with only 43 kills, but her defensive game, which generated 104 digs and 196 passes, is among the best in the district, which could indicate a successful future as a libero or defensive specialist.
