First we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
The 2A Evergreen District features seven high schools and their three best players are:
Coletta Franklin – Outside Hitter – Senior – Black Hills
Black Hills will miss some important graduated seniors heading into the next high school volleyball season, but Coletta Franklin will remain with the Wolves for another year. That’s certainly good news considering how well the 5’10” outside hitter performed for the team in 2019. Franklin is very active and efficient at the net and her ability to hit from multiple spots makes of her a valuable asset. She was an All-League second-team member in 2019.
Drea Brumfield – Middle-Blocker – Junior – WF West
WF West has a real gem on their hands in Drea Brumfield. The middle-blocker is extremely tall for someone her age, standing at 6’2” and providing the Bearcats an imposing presence at the net in any given night. Brumfield also plays basketball, a sport that gave her good feet speed and positioning, two attributes she uses really well while on a volleyball court. She was an All-League honorable mention nominee last season.
Madison Stoeckler – Setter – Sophomore – Centralia
Madison Stoeckler left a great impression on everyone in the district after her first season with Centralia. The 5’6” setter did a good job in orchestrating the Tigers’ offense but also find more ways to push the team forward with a strong defensive game and effective performances from the service line. Her positive freshman season earned her an All-League honorable mention.
