Several young 1st Region volleyball players are carrying momentum over into the offseason.
Here are four 1st Region defensive specialists to watch.
KyLee Bodell: A Ballard Memorial freshman defensive specialist, Bodell excelled during the 2020 high school volleyball season. Bodell recorded 300 digs, 62 kills, 42 assists and 46 service aces in her latest campaign. A young defensive standout, Bodell delivers consistently as a back row hitter.
Sayde Lowe: A Calloway County freshman defensive specialist, Lowe was a standout for her team throughout the 2020 high school volleyball season. As a freshman, Lowe logged 152 digs and 26 service aces. An athletic prep volleyball player, Lowe digs and pursues well.
Elizabeth Shaw: A Community Christian (Paducah) freshman defensive specialist/setter, Shaw showed out during her latest volleyball campaign. As a freshman, Shaw posted 95 digs, 97 kills, 19 assists and 11 service aces. A player with a solid skill set, Shaw performs well in both the back row and the front row.
Laney Shehorn: A Carlisle County freshman defensive specialist. Shehorn was among the leaders for her team during the 2020 high school volleyball season. As a freshman, in only 14 matches, Shehorn delivered a team-high 142 digs as well as 36 service aces.
