Continue ReadingWe at Prep Dig want to continue to highlight great accomplishments and give kudos to those who deserve it after all of the hard work they put in to their craft. We are going to highlight a few players who have recently surpassed some great milestones in the volleyball career. Say congrats to these three ladies on what they just accomplished:
Charitie Luper Charitie Luper 5'8" | OH Bryon Nelson | 2021 State TX [2021] 5-8 Outside (HS: Byron Nelson/Club: Texas Advantage/ Verbal: UCLA)
Charitie is listed as the number 21 top prospect in the 2021 class according to our Prep Dig Rankings. In an earlier article we wrote, “She is one of the, if not THE, most athletic players we have seen in a long time. Being the daughter of two athletically gifted parents definitely helps. This apple has not fallen far from the tree at all. She has come into her own and every college coach across the country has taken notice. She is verbally committed to UCLA and she will likely be super explosive for them from the moment she walks onto their campus. She has one more year at her volleyball powerhouse school Byron Nelson and her senior season looks to be very similar to last year’s 6A state title team. Miss Luper’s jumping ability is so astounding because she is a unicorn. I say this because she is the rare jumper that doesn’t even need to create any momentum in her approach in order to sky above the net. It is almost as if she just floats in the air at will and it is very beautiful to watch. She rises so quickly and then has a thunderous arm swing that has the ball explode off of her hand. She was born to play the game of volleyball. Be on the lookout for great things this coming season.” I cannot preach any more of just how athletic this young lady is. She is an astounding athlete and has been stepping up her game recently for her Byron Nelson school in the State Playoffs so far. Last years State Champs are hungry for a back to back trip. Charity is one reason why that could definitely be a possibility. During yesterdays five set thrilling win versus Southlake Carroll, Miss Luper set a school-record of 40 kills. That offensive performance helped her team set up a showdown of volleyball powerhouses during their next round matchup against fellow title contender Flower Mound this week. We are eagerly awaiting the match.
Ava Roberts Ava Roberts 6'0" | RS Mansfield | 2022 State TX [2022] 6-0 Right Side/Middle (HS: Mansfield/Club: Texas Advantage/ Verbal: Uncommitted)
Ava Roberts Ava Roberts 6'0" | RS Mansfield | 2022 State TX is now currently ranked as the 36th top prospect in the wonderful State of Texas. In a previous article we wrote the following about Ava: “I am very impressed with this young lady’s work ethic. She has been training extra hard during the shutdown and it will pay off big when she gets back on the court. She plays for the world famous TAV club and shines for them on the right side/middle. She is versatile enough to hit quick sets and high tempo on the pins. She is gifted with a super strong frame that is built for the college game. She will transition very well to the workouts at the next level. She can jump extremely well and rises up with the best of them. What truly stands out is her power on her attack. Her upper body is so strong that the ball comes off of her hand contact so quickly. When she presses on the block, there is no hitter who can break that seal. This is a great weapon for a team to have. She has played against some of the best teams in the nation and she still shines. She sometimes steps inside and runs a slide in transition and also runs quicks from the right.I was first introduced to her by a friend when they watched her workouts at home during the pandemic. She posted them to her social media page and it wowed all of us. It became very apparent that this young lady has a drive unlike her peers. We are super excited to put her on the State Rankings and know she has the drive to move up the list soon. The only changes I would like to what I previously wrote is this kid has only gotten better! She is only a Junior but she is a Stud for Mansfield High School. This young lady has power for days and plays with so much passion.” We would like to congratulate Miss Roberts on being named Co-Hitter of the Year for District 11-6A. Mansfield moved her around multiple times this year and no matter where she was attacking, she was unstoppable. We are extremely proud of her and can’t wait to watch her in club season. She helped lead Mansfield to a deep run in the state playoffs this season and they will be back for next year for sure with her on the squad for her senior season.
Jacqueline Lee Jacqueline Lee 5'7" | DS/L The Woodlands | 2021 State TX [2021] 5-7 Libero (HS: Woodlands/Club: Woodlands Revolution/ Verbal: Texas State)
Jacqueline Lee Jacqueline Lee 5'7" | DS/L The Woodlands | 2021 State TX is currently ranked as the 80th top prospect in the State of Texas according to our state rankings list. When we profiled Miss Lee earlier in the summer we wrote, “She will be attending Texas State once she graduates high school. She plays for a high school program with a fantastic winning tradition, Woodlands High in north Houston. Jac has exceptional defensive skills as she can play both in left and middle back. She keeps her head on a swivel and reads the attack so well to put herself in the best position possible to play the ball. I think this is key for her. She transitions so well because she sees the play develop long before the setter releases the ball to their hitters. She uses her hands on the high emergency dig and can move her feet well to get balls outside her range. I like how she talks to her teammates during the play and directs traffic. She is a great leader on the court and it will help her high school and club team stay on their winning paths. She plays for a very good program in north Houston, Woodlands Revolution.” Jac just did something amazing this weekend. She set a school-record 50 digs in their 5 set win versus Klein Cain. Every dig she had helped her Woodlands High team capture the Regional Quarterfinal Championship. That sets up another playoff match versus Wylie High School this Tuesday. We know that she will keep up her hot streak and can’t wait to see what she does next.
