Continue ReadingThese athletes are hungry and between watching athletes in Wisconsin and Iowa the past two years, I can vouch that their accolades and accomplishments in their young careers and well deserted. There are also athletes that you can see they are on the brink of a breakthrough. The repetitions they’ve had time and time again are now becoming automatic. Plus, they are getting strong, quicker, jumping higher and are finding their athleticism. I’ve seen these athletes in summer leagues, camps, high school tournaments, club tournaments, and even state championship matches. Here are the Class of 2023’s heading to the Top 250 in Wisconsin and Iowa that will definitely be ones to take note of not only at our event, but into the 2021 club season.
Iowa
Claudia Aschenbrenner Claudia Aschenbrenner 5'10" | OH Osage | 2023 State IA – Osage – CIA
Aschenbrenner is one of the top middles in the Class of 2023. She’s 5’10, but in the middle her athleticism is her biggest strength. Coming off a state title for Osage, Aschenbrenner has an extremely high motor where she just keeps working through every point allowing herself to be available to swing and score in transition. She contacts the ball square and knows how to score points on a slide, just a fun athlete to watch with her positive body language and constant energy
Marion turned it up another gear and took control of set three. 2023 RS/S Avery Van Hook was so key to increasing the energy, scoring points for the Indians pic.twitter.com/ER3tIQnX5s

Avery Van Hook – Marion – Iowa Rockets
The “X-Factor”. I saw Van Hook as a Freshman a few times, including the state tournament and seeing her as a Sophomore this past fall, you could see improved efficiency in her footwork, a solid read for the other side of the net as a setter, and then when she enters the front row she scores a ton of points as a right side hitter. She also has intangibles that you cannot measure. She’s a winner, she gets after it, and she will bring the energy and intensity of others up another level
Chloe Cline Chloe Cline 6'1" | MB Pleasant Valley | 2023 State IA with the presence at the net and Emily Wood Emily Wood 5'9" | MB Pleasant Valley | 2021 State IA is so tough to defend. A lefty hitting from the left side is uncommon and the Spartans taking full advantage pic.twitter.com/qWJqy9FvDF

Chloe Cline Chloe Cline 6'1" | MB Pleasant Valley | 2023 State IA – Pleasant Valley – Iowa Rockets
Cline’s upside is crazy high as well as her vertical. Long, athletic, and the ability to get from pin to pin to close the block as well as a quick snap of an arm swing to score has made her a top five athlete in the Class of 2023. She’s played for successful high school and club teams and she will continue to rise through the ranks. Her presence is always known when she is in the match where if she’s not stuffing the block, she’s altering it for the opposing attackers.
Lily Dykstra Lily Dykstra 6'0" | OH Urbandale | 2023 State #127 Nation IA – Urbandale – PowerPlex
Dykstra is the next six rotation pure outside that will turn heads in Iowa. The Class of 2023 has really made huge statements this fall during the high school season and Dykstra is one. She is the top overall prospect from this class with her ability to score points. She is always an outlet for her squad no matter where hse is and will be a fun prospect to take the court with others in the state on December 5.
Ellie Anderson Ellie Anderson 5'11" | OH South Hardin | 2023 State IA – South Hardin – Club Ignit Select
Anderson was a major part of the run South Hardin made to the Iowa State tournament this past fall. An aggressive approach and big swing, Anderson racked up over 400 kills as a Sophomore and will be sure to tally plenty of post season honors. She will play club for Club Ignit Select where she will train other top outside hitters in Hayden Kubik Hayden Kubik 6'1" | OH West Des Moines Valley | 2022 State #11 Nation IA (Nebraska) and Ava Reynolds Ava Reynolds 5'11" | OH Ankeny | 2022 State #155 Nation IA (Denver) in the class above her.
Wisconsin
Sophia Schneider Sophia Schneider 5'10" | S Waterloo | 2023 State WI – Waterloo – FC Elite
Her game has elevated so much in the past year. She has been training with Illinois commit, Brooke Mosher Brooke Mosher 5'11" | S Waterloo | 2021 State WI where she can set and swing. Schneider is like a point guard on the court where she can score points, but also dish to the open attacker. Her style is so physical and athletic where she is so essential to her side of the net. She’s the type of players others want to be around.
Zoe Behrendt Zoe Behrendt 5'11" | S Whitefish Bay | 2023 State #113 Nation WI just so smooth as a setter – Class of 2023. She can do it all. pic.twitter.com/NBzcAozMcL
— Chris Fitzgerald (@PrepDigChris) August 7, 2020
Zoe Behrendt Zoe Behrendt 5'11" | S Whitefish Bay | 2023 State #113 Nation WI – Whitefish Bay – Milwaukee Sting
The gamechanger. Behrendt changes the game and is the orchestrator to her offense. She can hit all the tempos in front and behind her, and she also knows the right time to attack and score on her own. For club, she runs the show as a setter, but her high school season she is a big time attacker.
@kyladunaway touching high and has improved so much in a year. Class of 2023 who is showing she can hit everywhere! Get her on the radar! 📈📈📈 pic.twitter.com/XgeXf91pgF

Kyla Dunaway Kyla Dunaway 6'4" | RS Kimberly | 2023 State WI – Kimberly – FC Elite
Dunaway is a completely different player than she was a year ago. She is really coming into her own in regards to athleticism where she can run a variety of tempos, can attack from a high contact point and puts up such a strong block. She can play out of the middle or right side. She shows flashes of Elise Goetzinger Elise Goetzinger 6'4" | MB Mount Horeb | 2020 State WI from the Class of 2020 who is now a Freshman at Kentucky. Long blonde hair, strong, athletic, and will be one can be one of the top blockers and attackers in her class.
New 2023 prospect alert in Wisconsin. 6’5 pin in the Green Bay Area 👀 – she will be in attendance at the Prep Dig Summer Showcase at @stingvb1988 August 7. Welcome to Wisconsin Kennedy Martin! pic.twitter.com/pKuHe04I0N
— Chris Fitzgerald (@PrepDigChris) July 27, 2020
Kennedy Martin – De Pere – FC Elite
Martin moved to the Green Bay area this fall after playing in the Carolinas for Carolina Unioni. With no fall high school season at De Pere, she will be looking to make her mark at the start of the club season. At the Summer Showcase this past August she touched 10’6. She has the length and tools to do some special things. Her upside is scary good.
Emily Clausen Emily Clausen 6'0" | MB Catholic Memorial | 2023 State WI – Catholic Memorial – Milwaukee Sting
Clausen can play anywhere in the front row. With a live and active arm, she can find an open spot or use the block to her advantage. She was the top point scorer for Catholic Memorial this past season who was one of the top D2 squads in the state.
Taylor Tetzlaff Taylor Tetzlaff 6'0" | OH Kaukauna | 2023 State WI – Kaukauna – FC Elite
Tetzlaff is long, athletic, and just finds a way to score points. She’s not afraid to take a big swing and is really improving her backcourt game. With another season of club under her belt, she will be a threat to score anywhere as well as a solid primary passer. Her game has immensely improved since the fall of 2019 and still has plenty of potential to tap into.
Abbie Dix Abbie Dix 6'1" | MB Brodhead | 2023 State WI – Brodhead
Dix was one of the top Freshmen for Brodhead in 2019 and did not have a high school season this fall. When she wasn’t playing volleyball, she was tearing up on the AAU basketball scene for Let It Rain where she is a top prospect in the Class of 2023. Her overall athleticism and physicality will be fun to see with other top volleyball players in Wisconsin.
Meghan Scholz Meghan Scholz 6'3" | MB Tomahawk | 2023 State WI – Tomahawk – NW Stars
One of the best middles you haven’t heard of yet. Scholz is 6’2, a quick jumper, and a high contact point. She’s from the North woods of Tomahawk that not only has beautiful views, but has also produced some top volleyball talent. Scholz is one to keep an eye on through the club season as she will be quite a pick up at the next level if she continues to develop.
Marissa Corso Marissa Corso MB Neenah | 2023 State WI – Neenah – FC Elite
Corso is quick, dynamic, and finds ways to score points with a high IQ of knowing when to swing, tip, or throw to an open spot. She had a strong fall season playing in the Prep Dig Fall League with no official high school season for Neenah in the spring. She is really developing into a strong athlete and with more reps can be a very dominant player.
Kindyl Kilar Kindyl Kilar 5'10" | OH Whitewater | 2023 State WI – Whitewater – Milwaukee Sting
So smooth, just makes it work and is so efficient with everything she does. Kilar is another swiss army knife type of player who is so fundamentally sound everywhere on the court. She can swing on the pin, score points, and pass on point. A huge positive for any team she is on.
Rowan Schreiber Rowan Schreiber 6'5" | MB Madison Memorial | 2023 State WI – Madison Memorial – Balance
Schrieiber will be hungry for a club season after her high school opted for the alternate season in the spring. At 6’4, Schreiber is strong, athletic and can really put up a big block at the right side or out of the middle. She’s a sleeper in this class, but with her size and athletic ability, there will be plenty of college coaches who would be happy to have her on their side of the net.
Autumn Flynn Autumn Flynn 5'11" | MB Luxemburg-Casco | 2023 State WI – Luxemburg-Casco – FC Elite
Flynn is fresh off a state title with Luxemburg-Casco where she is an extremely dynamic middle blocker. Very dangerous off one foot, Flynn can run the slide and really hammer. At 5’10, strong, and athletic her swing and power is really what sets her apart.
Maya Wegand Maya Wegand 5'7" | OH Little Chute | 2023 State WI – Little Chute – Impact
Wegand is a big leaper, she’s got an electric arm and can find a way to score points. She’s a threat to score from the backrow and is a primary passer in serve receive as well. She played up on the Impact 16 National squad last year and will be gearing up for another big club season.
Sydney Bartels Sydney Bartels 5'11" | OH Freedom | 2023 State WI – Freedom – FC Elite
Bartels has some scary athletic ability. Jumps like a deer out of the middle and makes quite a combination with fellow 2023 setter high school and club teammate, Rachel Koss Rachel Koss 5'11" | S Freedom | 2023 State WI . A quick arm, but her overall ability to hang and make adjustments really is what standsout. She can play on the right side or middle, but can be turned into quite the utility front row player.
