Here are some of the class of 2022 athletes to watch this coming weekend.
Emma Johnson Emma Johnson 5'10" | S Luxemburg-Casco | 2022 State WI – FC Elite 17 Navy
Emma is a really gifted setter that led Luxemburg-Casco to back to back state championships in 2019 and 2020. She earned 1st Team Conference and All-State honors for her work on her high school team this fall and is pretty unstoppable. Her defense, court awareness, and speed make her a huge threat to every opponent.
Bella Van Lannen Bella Van Lannen 6'0" | RS Appleton North | 2022 State WI – FC Elite 17 Navy
Don’t sleep on Bella Van Lannen Bella Van Lannen 6'0" | RS Appleton North | 2022 State WI . She is a very valuable athlete who sees blocker’s hands well when she is hitting, and sets up her own block with a solid base and power press over the net. Bella did not have a high school season this fall, but she did play in all of our Prep Dig tournaments. She has a great vertical and a very fast arm swing that makes her hard to read and block on the right side.
Cadence Maxfield Cadence Maxfield 5'8" | S Notre Dame Academy | 2022 State WI – Impact 17 National
Cadence is a setter who is incredibly fast and gritty on the court. She makes some plays and sets that just make you think “wow.” I had the opportunity to see her play this summer at several Prep Dig events and it seemed that every time she stepped on the court she was learning her opponents and working to set her own team up for success. Cadence knows what her hitters need and is great at feeding them the ball at the exact right moment.
Maddie Connor Maddie Connor S Germantown | 2022 State WI – Motion 17 Blue
Maddie is a talented setter who moves fast and pushes the ball even faster. She runs an efficient and fast-paced offense that regularly out-paces opponents. Maddie knows her hitters well and uses it to her advantage. Opposing blockers really need to hold their base against Maddie because she is incredibly smart and can force a single block very well.
Bailey Haliburton Bailey Haliburton 6'1" | RS Lake Country Lutheran | 2022 State WI – Motion 17 Blue
This 6’1” right side is a force to be reckoned with. She will be a huge offensive weapon for the talented team. Not only is she hugely valuable on offense, but she puts up a nearly impenetrable block. Bailey is definitely an awesome prospect in this class who adds huge value to every team she plays on.
Abby Savatski Abby Savatski 6'1" | MB Mukwonago | 2022 State WI – RVA 17 Navy
Abby has impressed me every time I have seen her. From showcases to tournaments, she is a consistent powerhouse in the middle. She moves quickly from pin to pin and closes an insane number of blocks. She also has a heavy swing that can power through opposing blocks and pound the ball.
Peyton Como Peyton Como 5'4" | DS/L Wauwatosa West | 2022 State WI – RVA 17 Navy
Peyton is fast a gritty, everything you want in a libero. She frustrates hitters with her seeming ability to get a touch on nearly every ball. Peyton is a fierce protector in the back row on both defense and serve receive. She is exactly the player you want taking the first contact on your side of the net.
Lauren Paulsen – River City 17 Blue
Lauren caught my eye when she played with Luther Prep in tournaments this summer. She has a good vertical and is consistent in all six rotations. Lauren works hard on the court and puts up some big swings and digs. She is talented on serve receive and also puts up a very challenging block.
The Class of 2022 is insanely talented and these athletes are some of the best. They are likely itching to get back into competition and it will be awesome to see them compete throughout this weekend at the Prep Dig Resolution Tournament.
