– 2022 | S | Springboro
Brown was the conference leader in total assists with 810, averaging nearly 10 assists per set. She has early hand preparation and consistent position above her head that makes it challenging to read her especially when in transition and pulled off the net as she has the ability to run the full offense and involve quick tempo middles with good range. She has good quickness on defense and collected over 200 digs on the season.
Hannah Golden – 2022 |S | Centerville
Finishing second in the conference in total assists behind Brown, Golden dished out 697 assists on the season. She did lead the GWOC in total service aces with 59. She shows good command of her offense as Centerville’s in system tempo had a faster quality to it through the left pin and with the middles.
Iris Riegel – 20220 | MH/OH | Fairmont
Riegel took the offensive crown in the GWOC as she led the conference in total kills with 363 on the season, averaging just over four kills per set while hitting at a .217 efficiency. At 6’0, she has good length as an attacker and she uses her arms well throughout her approach pattern to create her lift. She uses her contact point well and can get on top of the ball well on an open net. She continues to develop her skills as a pin attacker and passer and shows good arm control and movement to swing through a broad range of the court in her skills training
Second Team Honorees
Audrey Brothers – 2022 | DS/L | Centerville
With 275 digs on the season, Brothers averaged three digs per set in helping the Centerville defense. She tracks the ball well in serve receive to get the ball on her midline while also showing ability to create angles well outside the center of her frame if needed. Defensively, she reads the floor well and can be dynamic through her forward balance position and quick first step move to the ball. She also shows good undertanding of angle development to keep the ball high and off the net for her setter to run their transition offense.
Nicole Sargent – 2023 | MH | Centerville
The 6’0 sophomore middle was the only sophomore athlete among the first and second teams in the GWOC. She recorded nearly 164 kills on the season while hitting at a .410 kill percentage. She also finished among the top-four in total blocks in the conference, averaging 2.6 per match. She is very active on both sides of the ball as she can score both in front and behind the setter, while on the defensive side she shows a good read and press at the net to slow down opposing attackers when blocking.
