Continue ReadingFor the first time in club history, the Missouri Juniors volleyball club is adding an 18’s team to their program. With many of the same players returning from a 17’s team that finished well at both MLK and President’s Day, the 18’s team looks to build on their success. The team is lead by first-year Juniors club Coach Nathan Davis and Assistant Coach Alyssa Munlyn.
With a shortened tournament schedule, this Juniors team is looking for a fast start at their first tournament, competing at MLK in Kansas City.
Let’s take a closer look at the eight-player roster and their senior year stats:
Claire Nilges, SR, MH, Fatima High School
Nilges played a big role for her high school team and will rely on her speed and physicality to contribute well for Juniors. Not only an offensive player, Nilges also contributes on defense as one of the best blockers for Juniors.

– hitting .400%
– 45 blocks
Hannah Moeller, SR, OH, Fatima High School
Moeller, a 6-rotation outside, is terminal on offense with a wide array of shots and power to earn points for her team. Her speed on offense will help set Moeller apart from the competition.
– 87 kills
– 90 digs
Avery Zerrer, SR, OH, Hickman High School
After compiling 133 kills her junior year, Zerrer made the switch to setter for her senior year of high school. A well-rounded player, Zerrer is making the move back to the outside hitter position for Juniors and will be used as a 6-rotation outside. With good ball control and a high volleyball IQ, Zerrer will carry a big workload for Juniors.

Shannon Yockey, SR, MH, Hickman High School
Yockey will use all of her 6’4 height to be a notable presence at the net for Juniors this season. On both offense and defense, Yockey is expected to contribute well under the coaching of four-time All-American Alyssa Munlyn.

Reeser brings great experience to Juniors and is expecting to run a good offense for the team. After a successful high school season, Reeser’s well-rounded talent will play a huge role in the success that Juniors looks to find this year.

– 515 assists (finished her school career with 1,546 assists)

, SR, DS, Jefferson City High School
Vogt brings her high energy and work ethic to the Juniors squad. After handling the backcourt for Jefferson High this year, Vogt uses her hustle and court awareness to clean-up the defensive side of the game for Juniors.

Sarah Fox, SR, DS, Battle High School
After having to set for her high school team, Fox is making the move back to defense specialist this season for Juniors. With a solid platform and defensive effort, Fox is expected to build off of Vogt for a complete defensive effort for Juniors.

Layla Horn, SR, RS/OH, Christian Fellowship High School
Horn played her high school ball for CFS, a small private Christian school that competes in the MCSAA (Missouri Christian School Athletic Association) division of state. Playing as a six-rotation outside hitter for her high school team, Horn makes the move to the opposite hitter position for Juniors this year.
