Continue ReadingWe are proud of our second update to the 2021 Class. We have just witnessed some amazing accomplishments throughout this unpredictable year we have just had. Texas was fortunate to have almost a full high school season and is now finishing up this week with the State Playoffs. Even in the tough year that we had, we witnessed some great training and play from this senior class. We continued to be amazed at the resiliency of these amazing players and all that they had to deal with this season. We will be profiling players who were previously ranked in the state, but through great play, they made some serious moves up the rankings. Without further ado, here are a few players who moved up:
Ally Batenhorst Ally Batenhorst 6'4" | OH Seven Lakes | 2021 State TX 6-4 Outside (HS: Seven Lakes/Club: Houston Juniors/Signed: Nebraska)
Ally Batenhorst Ally Batenhorst 6'4" | OH Seven Lakes | 2021 State TX has shot up the charts and is now ranked as the 3rd best recruit in the 2021 Class according to our updated State Rankings. Previously we had her ranked as the 13th top commit. We published a few articles on this young lady already and here is a little what I wrote, “This Nebraska commit is worth the price of admission. Nebraska has some great volleyball players in its state, so when a player from Texas is recruited to one of the best programs in the country, it says a lot about the player. She is the real deal. Standing at six foot four and playing on either pin she has been a joy to watch. She is a very gifted athlete who hits with so much power. She has every offensive weapon in her arsenal. In high school it is almost a guaranteed kill when she got the set. She regularly got over 25 kills in a match. Seven Lakes high school set her in the front row and the back row and she scored at will. We are looking forward to watching her play college volleyball on television.” She is currently leading her team to a State Title game birth this weekend and has been the unstoppable driving force for the Seven Lakes offense. She just broke her own school record of 32 kills with a semi-final tally of 36 total kills in a five-set amazing win over SA Reagan to earn a second trip to the finals in four years. People can discuss who the best players are all day long until we are blue in the face, but numbers do not lie. This young lady has proven on the court that her top Outside Ranking is legit. In a state of such amazing talent, the cream always rises to the top. Please congratulate Ally on her move up our rankings. We cannot wait to cover her in the club season.
Charitie Luper Charitie Luper 5'8" | OH Bryon Nelson | 2021 State TX 2021] 5-8 Outside (HS: Byron Nelson/Club: Texas Advantage/ Signed: UCLA)
Charitie was previously listed as the number 21 top prospect in the 2021 class according to our Prep Dig Rankings. She has since been moved up to the 7th best player in the State of Texas. In an earlier article we wrote, “She is one of the, if not THE, most athletic players we have seen in a long time. Being the daughter of two athletically gifted parents definitely helps. This apple has not fallen far from the tree at all. She has come into her own and every college coach across the country has taken notice. She is verbally committed to UCLA and she will likely be super explosive for them from the moment she walks onto their campus. She has one more year at her volleyball powerhouse school Byron Nelson and her senior season looks to be very similar to last year’s 6A state title team. Miss Luper’s jumping ability is so astounding because she is a unicorn. I say this because she is the rare jumper that doesn’t even need to create any momentum in her approach in order to sky above the net. It is almost as if she just floats in the air at will and it is very beautiful to watch. She rises so quickly and then has a thunderous arm swing that has the ball explode off of her hand. She was born to play the game of volleyball. Be on the lookout for great things this coming season. I cannot preach any more of just how athletic this young lady is. She is an astounding athlete and has been stepping up her game recently for her Byron Nelson school in the State Playoffs so far. Last years State Champs are hungry for a back to back trip. Charitie is one reason why that could definitely be a possibility. During yesterdays five set thrilling win versus Southlake Carroll, Miss Luper set a school-record of 40 kills.” Byron Nelson fell just a bit short of their repeat effort, but the entire state took notice of the greatness that is Charitie Luper Charitie Luper 5'8" | OH Bryon Nelson | 2021 State TX . We are extremely proud of all of her accomplishments on the court and it she will be a force in her senior club season with her extremely talented TAV club team. I am sure that she will be a dynamic asset to the UCLA team once she steps foot on campus next year as a freshman. Definitely an immediate impact player.
Callie Kemohah Callie Kemohah 5'6" | DS/L Lovejoy | 2021 State TX [2021] 5-6 Libero (HS: Lovejoy/Club: Texas Advantage/Signed: Oklahoma)
We are proud to announce that Callie is now ranked as the 9th best overall prospect and the top libero in the state in her 2021 class according to our State Rankings update. Previously we had her ranked as the 12th top prospect. An earlier article we published said the following, “Her resume is littered with accolades from almost every volleyball publication there is. Even as a young 14/15 year old player she helped her team win an Open National Championship at USA Volleyball Nationals. That success has not stopped. She is one reason her Lovejoy high school program has also enjoyed success like winning the State Championship last year. She is the top libero for one of the best high school programs and one of the best club programs in the country. I think its safe to say she’s pretty good. This is why she will star for Oklahoma in a few years in the Big 12 conference. Get to know her name if you don’t know it already. She is a dominant force in the back row. Being a true coach at heart, I personally love the way she holds her form after contact in both serve receive and while digging. It is textbook technique. She has been trained very well at TAV. She is still such a joy to watch on the court. She is a prototypical libero who moves so fluid on the court. I love watching her ball control and soft contact with hard driven attacks. She plays with a lot of fire and her teammates love her. She is a fantastic leader for her high school program and we can’t wait to watch her aim for a second title in a row.” Lovejoy is littered with amazing talent across the board, but every coach knows that in order to win championships, defense is the main component. Callie is the driving force behind the offense and defense of her Lovejoy high school team. Her serve receive passing and defensive tenacity is a huge reason why her high school team is competing for the State Championship again this year. Wish her luck and also congratulate her on this amazing accomplishment.
